Review : Sarrainodu – Typical Masala Entertainer

The wait is finally over as Allu Arjun’s mass entertainer, Sarrainodu has released all over with massive fan fare. Directed by Boyapati Sreenu, let’s see how this film turns out to be.

Story:-

Gana(Allu Arjun) is an ex-military officer who comes back home to do good for the society. One fine day, he helps an entire village and also saves Maha Lakshmi(Rakul Preet) without knowing that she is under a threat from the very powerful Dhanush( AadiPinisetty).

An upset Vairam Dhanush, sets for Gana who is busy with his own life and is about to get married to Hansita Reddy(Catherine Tresa). Rest of the story is as to how Gana faces Vairam Dhanush and saves his entire family.

Plus Points :-

Firstly, credit should completely go to director Boyapati Sreenu for showcasing Allu Arjun in a complete makeover. Right from the first frame, it is Bunny and his stunning screen presence that steals the show completely. One can easily say what a fine actor Bunny is turning out to be off late. He sheds his lover boy image and transforms himself into an angry young man with Sarrainodu. Be it his dialogue delivery, mannerisms and dances, Bunny’s hard work clearly shows on screen.

Sarrainodu wouldn’t have had the required punch if it was not for Aadi. The young actor looks menacing as the bad guy and plays his character with aplomb. The way his role is showcased and the way Aadi confronts Bunny in many scenes is just superb. First half of the film is very entertaining and the interval bang will surely give you an adrenaline rush.

With Sarrainodu, you can see Rakul the actress and not the star. Catherine too is convincing as the MLA. Srikanth does his supporting role well. After a long gap, Brahmi’s comedy nicely and gives enough comic relief. All the action sequences need a special mention and the way they have been conceived is just superb.

Minus Points:-

Sarrainodu has a pretty weak story line and does not have anything good to boast about. After a thumping first half, the proceedings get bogged down towards the last fifteen minutes. As the heavy duty emotions and action sequences are already done by then, the makers are forced to end the film on a predictable note.

The characterization of Bunny, his father and Srikanth looks jaded most of the time until the climax. The way Bunny’s character is forced to end up with Rakul Preet by sacrificing Catherine looks a bit unconvincing. The film has too much violence which might not go well with family audience. The makers should have added some more confrontational scenes between Aadi and Bunny to elevate the proceeding even more.

Technical Aspects:-

Thaman should be credited big time for his thumping music score. All the songs are a major bonus and his superb background score elevates the film big time. Dialogues are good and so was the art direction. Production values by Geetha Arts are superb as the film looks very rich in visuals.

Coming to the director Boyapati, he has done a superb job with the film. The way he has elevated both Bunny and Aadi looks quite refreshing. Even though he chooses a routine story line, the way he has targeted the mass audience and given them the necessary dose is superb. If he could have handled the last fifteen minutes of the film well, the end result could have been even better.

Verdict:-

On the whole, Sarrainodu is indeed a Oora mass entertainer. The film has many elements which will enthrall the fans and general audience big time. Bunny’s stunning transformation, Aadi’s screen presence and amazing action sequences are huge assets. If you are OK with too much violence and manage to bear the last fifteen minutes, you can happily watch Sarrainodu, which will end up as a typical masala entertainer this summer.

`Sarrainoudu` is a Boya Mark, Watchable Action Entertainer.

Story :

Gana (Allu Arjun), is an Ex- Military man who stands against injustice and doesn`t give a damn about who he is up against. He falls for the Local MLA, Hanshita Reddy (Catherine) who eventually starts liking him. There lies the twist in the tale when one fine day Mahalaxmi (Rakulpreet) runs into Gana for Help.


Performances:

Allu Arjun in a Massy Role tested his own limits as a performer to the hilt and came out all guns blazing on screen. He is Very convincing in this Mass Super Human role and Boyapati also deserves a lot of credit for molding him. Aadhi in a cool and terrorizing character has did a good job. Srikanth play the side kick and is more than adequate. Rakul did a fab job having given some scope to perform. Catherine as MLA also carry lot of weight and is okay. Others are adequate.



Technical Departments:


Music: Thaman`s tunes are Ordinary but Background Score is good. On screen, the songs have been timed and shot pretty well.

Cinematography: Good Work.

Editing: Adequate.

Action/Stunts: Damn Good. Major Highlight.




Analysis :

The 1st half of `Sarrainodu` is Okay and is largely Good. The 2nd half is Passable and Predictable but Watchable. The film rides on Boya Mark Mass Action Episodes and Bunny Style romance & comedy. Boya has delivered a Balanced Commercial Flick which has something for every one including the Families. Action Episodes have come out especially well and are the Major Highlight in this Action Entertainer. On the flip side, Romantic angle could have been dealt better. `Sarrainodu` is a Pretty much Watchable one and has what one expects from a Boyapati flick satisfying the Masses. You Can Watch This.

The film is more likely to end as a Minimum Guarantee Earner with strong showing expected in B & C Centers.

 

After an impressive show in his previous outing as Gona Ganna Reddy (Rudramadevi), Allu Arjun joins hands with a formidable team for an action drama film Sarrainodu. From the director (Boyapati Srinu) of Legend and Simha, comes another commercial potboiler for this summer.

Geetha Arts has funded this venture which also features the likes of Rakul Preet Singh, Catherine Tresa, Aadhi, Srikanth and Brahmanandam among others in the cast list. The cast sheet looks star-studded and aptly picked, especially the inclusion of Adhi as a baddie proves to be pretty effective.

With a combination like this, one expects some no-holds-barred entertainment with appropriate elements to please just about every type of audience.Sarrainodu is action/love film which talks about an ex-army officer who get on a mission to save a girl from a dirty gang headed by Chief Minister's son.

Allu Arjun sets the tone of the film. He is one actor who has the natural inclination to fit into any character, be it as a massy tough action hero or a cranky fun energetic performer. He has underplayed his cranky self here to fit into the character. Sarrainodu allows Bunny to showcase his skill facets. His dance moves in the much loved 'blockbuster' track deserve a mention.

The songs do not actually set the racy tempo, they do come in as a hindrance but they are still foot tapping.

The production values of Sarrainodu are rich, thanks to Rishi Punjabi's cinematography. We get to witness some great visuals in 'Telusa' song shot at Salt Flat. The editor has put the slow motion technology to good use. It comes in handy especially during the fight scenes.

The core script of the film looks very weak. The screenplay could have been tighter, you get to experience a lot of restless moments in the second half in particular. The triangular love track between Allu Arjun, Rakul Preet and Catherine Tresa could have been handled better. It doesn't carry life. Catherine fills the screen with glam quotient in the first half. But as an MLA you expect her to hold her ground and act a little smarter.

Rakul Preet plays a typical mass film heroine who has very limited screen time and being used mostly for the songs. Actors like Srikanth could have been used better. Bramanandham gives the occasional comedy relief.

Sarrainodu has too many violent fight scenes. The action block around the interval gives you a good rush.The problem with Sarrainodu is that you don't have any great scenes that stay in your mind when you walk out of the theatre.

Verdict: Charismatic screen presence of Allu Arjun makes this clichéd film watchable!
