Mohanlal reached the zenith of stardom with the action packed thriller Rajavinte Makan which created a wave of epic proportions in Malayalam box office in the year 1986. Vincent Gomas the lovable underworld don became a cult figure as youth imitated his mannerisms and uttered his punch dialogues with religious intensity. Acting powerhouse Jagathy Sreekumar once remarked that Rajavinte Makan was a milestone movie in Malayalam film industry. Cinematically it may have been just another commercial potboiler with all the ingredients that appeal to the front benchers. But its impact was beyond words. Mohanlal the actor became a brand that still stands like an oak tree even almost three decades later, was first created by Rajavinte Makan.

Thampy Kannamthanam-Dennis Joseph combination which created this film which ran for more than 6 months in many theatres are out to remake this landmark movie once again. Late actors Adoor Bhasi and Ratheesh who played the antagonist Krishnadas will be sorely missed. And it will be a challenge to cater to the taste of new generation who expect the moon whenever Mohanlal acts in a movie. It will be doubly so when it is a remake of such a cult movie like Rajavinte Makan.

The shoot is scheduled to start sometime in October and casting and other matters are being worked out. Thampy Kannamthanam and Dennis Joseph are not exactly at the height of their powers so the fans of Mohanlal and Rajavinte Makan will be keen to know how the projects shapes up. Rajavinte Makan literally the Prince, will surely rule the box office if it satisfies the expectations of the fans even a wee bit. High profile remakes are always a challenge, Rajavinte Makan will hopefully reign!
