No Akshay Kumar in Mahesh Babu’s next; but will Parineeti Chopra star?




Following the Brahmostavam debacle, Mahesh Babu is set to team up with filmmaker AR Murugadoss for a bilingual project. Mahesh Babu will commence work on film at the end of June or early in July. The film will be shot in Telugu and Tamil.

Tipped to have a budget of a whopping Rs 90 crore, this film could very well be the most expensive one in Mahesh’s career.

The grapevine had earlier been thick with rumours that Akshay Kumar might play the antagonist in the film. The decision to rope in Akshay Kumar was reportedly taken as the Bollywood biggie is already playing a baddie in superstar Rajinikanth’s “Robo 2.0”, with plans to turn it into a trilingual.

According to DNA, however, AR Murugadoss has confirmed that Akshay Kumar will not be a part of the film, putting the rumours to rest.

 

Akshay Kumar-starrer 'Housefull 3' has collected Rs 100 crore in the first weekend.

The Sajid-Farhad directed film, which is the third installment in the 'Housefull' franchise, released on June 3.

In an official statement Eros International announced that the movie has collected over Rs 100.03 crores (USD 15 million) across the globe in its opening weekend with Rs 73.02 crores gross (Rs.53.31 crores net box Office) in India and Rs 27.01 crores overseas.


'Housefull 3' also stars Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri and Lisa Haydon.

The star cast is happy with the success of the film and Akshay recently took to Twitter to thank his fans for all the love and support.

"With folded hands #HF3 gang would like 2 say the BIGGEST THANK YOU 2 all the Fans 4 makin #Housefull3 a HUGE SUCCESS," he tweeted.

The film is produced by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.

Akshay Kumar starrer Housefull 3 is performing extremely well in the weekdays too. The film collected 6.25 crores yesterday and now stands with the total collection of 74.88 crores.

 

Housefull 3 did good business in the first week grossing around 80 crore nett to become the highest first week grosser of 2016. The film had a good weekend and held up well on the weekdays. The film has done good business in Delhi / UP, East Punjab, Rajasthan, CP Berar, CI and Gujarat / Saurashtra. The Mysore collections are also pretty good for the genre. Nizam / Andhra had a record day one for an Akshay Kumar starrer but competition from a Telugu film meant average business in week one.



The film crossed 25 crore nett in Mumbai thanks to a good 11 crore nett contribution from Gujarat / Saurashtra which is almost 45% for the circuit.



The film should hold well in week two as the new films are not likely to make much impact where Housefull 3 is doing well. The release of Udta Punjab is still up in the air and if that film is delayed it will prove a big plus for Housefull 3 which will get a run till Sultan arrives in early July.

 

Housefull 3 recorded the highest first week collection of 2016 and that too without a holiday. Airlift the next best had a huge national holiday while Fan in 3rd place had a partial holiday. The top first week grossers in 2016 are as follows.



1. Housefull 3 - 80 crore apprx

2. Airlift - 79.29 crore

3. Fan - 71.42 crore

4. Baaghi - 59.68 crore

5. Kapoor & Sons - 44.77 crore



The collections are the highest ever in week one for an Akshay Kumar starrer and the highest ever for a comedy film also beating the 73.7 crore nett of Welcome Back and 69 crore nett of Ready.
