Filmfare Awards South 2016: Prithviraj’s Ennu Ninte Moideen beats Prabhas’s Baahubali in the awards race!

Malayalam cinema reigns supreme this time around
Ever since SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali came out last year, awards shows have become really predictable in a way. We know that the magnum opus is going to sweep away any award show, even the National Awards was a cakewalk for the Prabhas starrer. But the Britannia Filmfare Awards South gave us quite a big surprise, because for once, a Malayalam film has outdone Baahubali in terms of number of awards.



The film is Prithviraj and Parvathy starrer Ennu Ninte Moideen, which rocked the entire award show as it got 6 awards in total. On the other hand, the SS Rajamouli epic fell behind by just one award as its total stood at 5. Ennu Ninte Moideen won the Best Music Award in Malayalam which went to M.Jayachandran, Best Female Playback Singer in Malayalam which went to Shreya Ghoshal, Best Supporting Actress in Malayalam which went to Lena, Best Supporting Actor in Malayalam which went to Tovino Thomas, Best Director in Malayalam which went to R.S.Vimal and Best Actress in Malayalam which went to Parvathy.



Baahubali on the other hand won Best Female Playback Singer in Telugu which went to Geeta Madhuri, Best Cinematography which went to KK Senthil Kumar, Best Supporting Actress in Telugu which went to Ramya Krishnan, Best Film in Telugu and Best Director in Telugu which went to SS Rajamouli.

In the end, Baahubali won bigger awards when compared to Ennu Ninte Moideen, but even then the fact that someone was able to beat Baahubali in at least number of awards is refreshing to know. Other films which won some decent accolades were Mahesh Babu‘s Srimanthudu which got 3 awards, Kannada film Rangitharanga which got 3 awards and Vikram’s I, which also got three awards including the Best Actor.

PRITHIVIRAJ'S NEXT TO CREATE HISTORY!

Prithiviraj is quite a busy actor in Mollywood and he has already had 3 releases, Pavada, Darvinite Parinamam, James and Alice in 2016. He seems to have no intentions of slowing down.

The actor has given a go-ahead signal to director K S Babu’s ambitious project titled ‘Karachi 81’. The director said that the team is seriously thinking about shooting the film in Pakistan, Moscow, Rajasthan and Kochi. This action oriented film that tells the story of a spy will be marked as the first Malayalam film to be shot in Pakistan.

Another update from this actor's camp is that his next with Drishyam fame director Jeethu Joseph titled as Oozham will have its first look released on July 1st.
