07/06/2016 Thripunithura Central,11;30am 100 % Kasaba is a formulaic mass masala which fails to create an impact,It is the routine cop story that we have seen many times.The saving grace of the movie is undoubtebly Mammukka's amazing performance,he alone shouldered the whole film,many of the scenes were easily lifted by his charishmatic screen presence ,Other the characterisation of Rajan Zachariah,there is nothing much in this flick.Majority of the Supporting Cast were amateurish with their performances,most of them were unfamiliar faces,their substandard act affected the flow of the movie largely.Jagadheesh,Sampath & Siddique were the only actors with good performances.Varalakshmi Sarathkumar was okay in her malayalam debut,she has a powerful look & all the attributes needed for this character,but the lazy characterisation spoiled it big time. 1st half had a good start,especially Mammuka's terriffic intro with that bgm ,but towards the middle,Ikka vanushes away form the proceedings and the film became quite dull.It again gained momentum with Mammukka back in the scene, Ikka appearing in a Red Kurta - Kidilam Scene aayirunnu .Interval Punch was good,aa dialogum pwolichu :good:.2nd half disappointed for most of its part,especially the climax which ended all of a sudden,all the twist & turns were easily predictable,last okke oru thatikootu feel aayirunnu.Both the fight sequences didnt have the required intensity,action vendi 2 scenes kuthi kettiya ple und :athupinne:. Technically,Dop was avg except for some shots.Editing was ok,Onnumkoodi racy aakamayirunnu,Varalakshmi ulla scenes ellam valare kooduthal aanu,pinne anavashya love track,pinne veruthe oru item song,many of the scenes could have been easily trimmed.Story & Screenplay is the biggest negative of this movie,it is the same tried & tested one.Dialogues were superb,those punch dialogues are one the positive aspect in this movie.Nithin's direction is ok,but pandathe shaji-renji cinemakal pole thanne aanu making,but couldn't bring that spark.If you are a fan of Mammukka,this may satisfy you to some extent.
