Mesut Ozil now has 13 Premier League assists in 15 games,
7 behind the record of most assists in a PL season.

Ozil has 22 Premier League matches left this season to surpass the record of 20 assists held by Arsenal's Thierry Henry in 2002/03.

Arsene Wenger says that everybody who played against Aston Villa will be available for Monday night’s clash with Manchester City.

The boss stressed it is too early to make a firm decision on the inclusion of Alexis Sanchez, claiming there was a ‘slight chance’ the Chilean could feature after confirming he has started running again.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain says he’s always happy to play in the centre of midfield when asked to do so by Arsene Wenger.

The Arsenal manager has always said that the England man would end up as a central midfielder in the long-term, but until now he’s been played primarily in wide positions.

“I’ve become more used to playing on the wing because I’ve played there more than I have in the middle. Growing up, I played more centrally, which is why whenever I do get asked to play there, I’m more than happy to do that.

“There are times in the game as well when, because of the way the team plays, I might be on the wing but for a 10-minute period I might end up playing in midfield, and I feel at home doing that.

“Sometimes it’s nicer to play in midfield because you get more of the ball, whereas when you’re out wide you rely on people to get you the ball.

“But then when you are on the wing you have then license to attack a bit more and run at people, which is a strong part of my game. I’m happy to play in both positions.”

“Versatility is an extra string to a player’s bow, but in the long run it’s probably better to tie yourself down to one position and really become established in one area to be as good as you can in that position.”

CAZORLA: I HAD NO IDEA MY INJURY WAS SO SERIOUS

Santi Cazorla says he had no inkling that the knee injury he picked up against Norwich last month was so serious, and that if he had known he’d have to asked to come off.

The Spanish international damaged knee ligaments against the Canaries, and after initial scans showed a ruptured ligament, he underwent surgery which is expected to keep him out until March of next year.

Speaking to Cadena Cope radio, he said, “I took a knock but played the whole game in pain. I limped a lot but had no signs that could have a knee injury until after the game.

“Doctors told me I had torn the ligaments and that I had to have surgery. It was a blow because after playing, even with pain and limping, you don’t expect that. I got really scared when I had the knock because I had so much pain and the leg had fallen asleep because I had been struck on the sciatic nerve.

“I was a little bit scared but as the minutes passed and I was hot I didn’t have much pain so I could finish the game. Perhaps I should have asked to be subbed but I did not know I had such a serious injury, even the doctors tell me that they don’t understand how I could play so long with this injury.

“I got home, tried walking and playing with my son and thinking that maybe it wasn’t that bad. But at the same time I couldn’t carry out some movements and I felt the knee was unstable.

“I went for the scan with the idea that could be something serious.”

As you would expect though, the ever-smiling Spaniard is looking on the positive side and hopes to be back in action before the time-frame laid out by the specialists.

“I do not want to set a time but I want to play in three months. I do not want to extend it more if it is possible.

“Arsenal have told me it will be between three and four months, which may be closer to four. I have already said that I will work hard, I want to make everything I can to play in March but we will see how it goes. We are not going to force it if is going to be bad, but my priority is to play in March.”
