Anoop Menon to share screen with Vidya Balan in Aami Sanjith Sidhardhan | 6 hours ago Director Kamal is pulling off a casting coup of sorts for his upcoming biopic on late writer Kamala Das, titled 'Aami', based on her nickname. After roping in Vidya Balan, Prithviraj and Murali Gopy, the latest we hear is that Anoop Menon has signed for a crucial role in the movie. A source from the production unit tells us that the filmmaker was waiting for the actor to return from his China trip earlier this month to discuss and finalise the casting. "Anoop was more than excited to sign for the movie as it gives him a chance to work with both Kamal and Vidya Balan for the first time," the source adds. The actor confirms that he is part of the film. "I got a call from Kamal sir when I was in China regarding the movie. I have always wanted to work with him. He's someone who gives me constant feedback on my movies," says Anoop. "I have been a huge fan of Kamala Das and her works as well. So, I am honoured that Kamal sir would call me for such a role in this big project." The movie, based on the writer's autobiography Ente Katha, has Vidya playing Kamala Das aka Madhavikutty while Murali Gopy is cast as her husband. Prithviraj is slotted to play a fictional character who leads the story. On Anoop's role though, the actor chooses to remain tight-lipped. "I am not at liberty to reveal anything about the character except that it's pivotal to the movie and I get to share screen with Vidya and Prithviraj," Anoop says, adding that he will join the sets of the movie in October.
