You will be shooting next for Tiyaan, which is scripted by Murali Gopy...



My track in the film is majorly in Hindi because the movie happens in the early 90s in Mumbai and also has portions set in the current day in Badrinath. Tiyaan's got a very complex, intricate plot with extremely multi-layered characters. It's one of Murali's pet projects actually. He's been toying with it for years. It's a big film and as an actor it's very exciting for me to be involved in it.
A lot of actors these days are traversing to other South industries too. But you seem to be content in Malayalam as of now, despite making inroads into Bollywood and Tamil films.
It will require an exciting script for me to venture to other industries. Malayalam is giving me some amazing scripts at the moment. Every movie I do, regardless of how they fare at the box office, excites me. The last Tamil script that evoked a similar feeling was Kaaviya Thalaivan and then there is the upcoming Gautham Menon movie.

Paris Laxmi to speak Sanskrit in Tiyaan



Mollywood filmmakers have always sought actors of foreign origin for stories that demanded a 'western' presence such as Gavin Packard in Akkare Akkare Akkare.

Actress Paris Laxmi, who has played such roles in Bangalore Days and Salt Mango Tree, seems to be the current favourite of the industry for the part.
The actress will play a foreigner again in the upcoming socio-political thriller Tiyaan directed by Jiyen Krishnakumar but this time, her role is a lot more pivotal to the plot.

Laxmi says, "I can't reveal much about her, but can say it is a prominent character and quite unlike the roles I have done so far. All my lines are in English with a bit of Hindi, and some Sanskrit thrown in."

How challenging is handling Sanskrit for someone of French origin? "Well, as I am a Bharatanatyam dancer, the language is not totally alien to me and I do have a decent level of knowledge about it, so it's all going well," she says.

Her look too will be a bit different for the movie, Laxmi says. "I have very long dark hair and for certain movies, I have appeared in blonde hair. In Tiyaan, I will look more of myself with my original hair colour, though we are not maintaining the length," she says.

The film has Prithviraj, Indrajith, Murali Gopy and Padmapriya and quite a few Bollywood actors too as part of its cast. The movie's shooting is progressing in Hyderabad.

Director Jiyen Krishna-kumar's Tiyaan has been in the news since its announcement last year.

News of several popular stars being cast has only piqued curiosity about the film, scripted by Murali Gopy.

We now hear that Prithviraj has joined the team in Hyderabad on Friday for an extensive schedule and has canned a few scenes along with elder brother Indrajith.

"I will shoot for 15 days with the rest of the team before they leave," Prithviraj says. "After that, I will stay on for another 30 days; followed by a later schedule of 10 more days." The actor plays a character named Aslam Mohammed in the movie. The film apparently has two timelines — the early 90s in Mumbai and the present in Badrinath.

The Anarkali actor had earlier told us that most of his track in the movie will have him speaking Hindi. It's the same for Indrajith's character of Pattabhirama-giri. "I also have lines in Hindi," says Indrajith.
The actor, who has already shot for close to a month for the film, tells us, "Pattabhiramagiri is easily the most intense character I have done. I don't think I have prepared so much for a role. He's multi-layered so I have tried to bring in changes in terms of looks, body language and also expressions. I think every character in the film has several dimensions to them."

On the movie, he says, "It's Murali's best script yet. The movie has a pan-Indian appeal and I can assure that anywhere this film is screened, people will be able to relate to it because it has elements reflecting the current socio-political scenario of India."
Indrajith will be shooting for the movie till September 23. "That would mean we will be celebrating our Onam on the sets this time," he signs off.
