Samantha is very particular about the roles she accepts. In fact, she says she loves experimenting with characters. No wonder then, the actor has no qualms playing a married woman in her next. “I play a married lady in Thangamagan, which features Dhanush in the lead and is directed by Velraj. I took a conscious decision to try out different roles. In fact, I want all my roles to be different from one another and the decision to do Thangamagan was a result of this,” says Samantha.

The actor adds that the role in Thangamagan was quite challenging. “It is difficult to play a mature, married middle-class woman. I had to put in a restrained performance and I hope I have done justice to the character,” she says hopefully.

It is for the first time that Samantha is teaming up with Dhanush in the film, which is scheduled to hit screens on December 18. “I loved working with Dhanush so much that I am working with him again in two other films back-to-back. One is Vetri Maran’s Vada Chennai, which will be made in two parts and I will be a part of both segments,” she smiles.

Samantha is famous for sharing a good rapport with all her co-stars. “Amy Jackson and I too got along like a house on fire. In fact, both of us are working together in Vijay’s Theri as well. She is a hardworking girl and I was really impressed with the way she recalled all her lines in one shot,” adds Samantha.

But what about the insecurity that creeps in when two actors work together? Were they not worried about the other person’s character hogging the limelight? “Our roles in the film are so different that you won’t be able to pit one character against another. Moreover, we share a good working relationship. I respect her space and she respects mine,” she explains.

She couldn’t stop gushing about Velraj, the film’s director. “He is a meticulous man and we shot the film in record time. I think we shot the entire thing in just 44 days,” says Samantha, who is now concentrating on other films in her kitty. “I have 24 with Suriya and Theri with Vijay. In Telugu, I have A. Aa... with Trivikram and Nithin, and Brahmotsavam with Mahesh Babu and Srikanth Addala,” says Samantha.
