JLR launches InControl Apps - smartphone integration platform Jaguar Land Rover India has announced the launch of InControl Apps, a new smartphone integration platform, which has been developed jointly with Bosch. The platform will deliver integrated in-vehicle app connectivity for Android and Apple smartphones. The InControl Apps platform transfers the interface from the phone to the in-car infotainment touchscreen, to allow users access to various apps. Jaguar Land Rover claims that the developers have worked with third party app developers, specifically in India, to enable access to an initial suite of Android and iOS compatible applications. The India-customised platform is said to allow access to apps in India like such as NDTV, Hungama, MapmyIndia and Zomato. At present, InControl Apps is available on the 2016 Model Year Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Discovery Sport. It will be made available on other Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles subsequently.
Renault-Nissan Alliance Steps Forward to Assist Chennai Flood Victims Although the Renault and Nissan cars aren’t doing any good sales numbers, the low sales haven’t deterred the Renault-Nissan Alliance from not fulfilling its CSR. The alliance has stepped forward to assist people affected by the unprecedented rains and floods in Chennai and surrounding areas. As an immediate gesture, the Renault-Nissan Alliance donated One Crore to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Public Relief fund for relief and rehabilitation efforts due to the Chennai flooding. The Alliance entities are also working with various local NGOs to provide disaster relief as well as allocate funds raised through spontaneous employee contributions. This contribution is meant to complement the efforts of the state government in providing relief to victims of the flood and resettling them as soon as possible. Separately, the company has already donated a sum of INR 500,000 to the office of the Joint Director of Industrial Health and Safety, State of Tamil Nadu and to the local Lions Club. The donation has helped in procuring relief material in Tambram and Kancheepuram districts, which are closest to the Renault-Nissan Alliance factory. In addition, the Renault Nissan Alliance has also set up a separate Employee Relief Fund to provide assistance to employees who have suffered losses.
