Let us clarify this at first. Mohanlal is a versatile genius who remains a star for all seasons and not just for a month.

But still, he becomes the Sify star of the month, as it's a real treat for us all from him this Onam with two spectacular performances, which for sure needs a standing ovation.

First came Janatha Garage, the Telugu film directed by Koratala Siva, in which he teamed up with Jr. NTR playing a character that perhaps reminded one of Marlon Brando's epic performance in The Godfather. Mohanlal gave the character an altogether different meaning with a superb show, in his inimitable style.

Then came Oppam, his first Malayalam release of the year so far, in which he teamed up with his close friend, filmmaker Priyadarshan. Mohanlal plays Jayaraman, a blind man, who is indicted in a murder and he has to prove his innocence. He knows the killer but his blindness makes it difficult to convince others about many aspects.

Meanwhile the trailer of his much awaited Pulimurugan has come to a rousing welcome. The superstar is currently shooting for Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, directed by Jibu Jacob.

From Manjil Virinja Pookkal (1980), Mohanlal has been mesmerising Malayali audiences with his acting prowess and his amazing ability to get into the skin of any character. He is equally at ease with his perfect comic timing or in making the eyes of the viewers moist conveying emotions with so much ease.

Mohanlal is truly in a class of his own as one of the finest actors Indian cinema has ever seen.

For Malayalis, this year's Onam is really special as their favourite hero is back in his best, with a special gift – a sterling show Oppam.
