Theater: Chalakudy Surabhi Screen 2 Status: Houseful Show: Noon show Story: When I go to watch a Johny Antony film with Mammootty in the lead, I should not have much expectations other than a watchable and anything above. I had those minimum expectations. Lets go to the story. Oru main protagonist, Thoppil Joppan after a love failure is hanging on liquor to have some relief in life. He has some friends who often cracks jokes and most of them are failures. But some are good too. The love story is presented in a watchable way. Then comes another heroine and then love blossoms again, but to interval. There are scenes included only for fans and this movie if made for fans falls flat at many times. Otherwise also it just fell flat because of the narrative. It lags a lot nearing to the climax, making the audience think when this is gonna end. It had so many cliche scenes but some are handled in a humorous way so that we don't get irritated watching them. That was a good move from the makers. Still they could not make a good movie, thanks to the story which has nothing new to offer. The presentation does not entertain the audience much. Performances: Mammootty: His comic liners are okay. When he tries to dance in a song which reminds us of 80's when songs are shown for each advances of hero to heroine, he unintentionally makes us laugh. Venda ennu prekshakan parayunnathayipolum samvidhayakan chithreekarichitundu. An okay performance and he looks good. Mamta: The usual theppu heroine. Hero helps her, she theppu him and then, avar orumikukayanu suhruthukale....orumikukayanu Andrea: The other theppu. Kaviyoor Ponnamma: The usual amma who worries of her aged son not getting married, anyway happy to see her on screen in a full length role again after some time, though in Oppan she was there for some minutes. Harishree Ashokan: He is also there in a lengthy role, but a failure to create any laughter moments. Salim Kumar: He is there as a comedian after some time and he was good too. Baby Akshara, Alencier and other shinkidies were okay. Rest all were also okay. Verdict: Below average. Rating: 2/ 5.
