We have another important update on the upcoming Ilayathalapathy project. Who is going to play the lead opposite Vijay in this film? Well, according to film circle sources, it is none other than Kajal Aggarwal who is on top of the heroine list for Vijay’s 61. Kajal it seems has become a natural choice since she has already done two films with Vijay and her schedules match the film’s call sheet. It is also alleged that the film is likely to go on floors in Feb. 2017 If the news gets officially confirmed, Kajal will then be the lead in two giant films, Thala 57 and Thalapathy 61 at the same time. She is also the lead for Vikram’s next with director Socrates, notably.

While we eagerly await official confirmations, we also have expectations as to what sort of a plot Selva-Vijay combo might have in store for us. Going down history lane we found something interesting that has given us an insight into the probable genre of the probable Vijay 62. In a Twitter convo three years back when Selvaraghavan was asked if he would like to do a film with Vijay, he replied excitedly in the affirmative. More interestingly, he named Matt Damon’s Bourne series to be a suitable subject for both of them to work on. We all know a similar spy/espionage thriller subject starring Vijay under Gautham Menon’s direction, Yohan, which failed to materialize. Hopefully, something like that will turn up. Though it was very certain that Vijay would be teaming up with Atlee up next for a commercial pot-boiler, no official statement has been made thus far. Finally Ms. Hema Rukmani during her recent interaction to the media confirmed that they will be producing Vijay’s film. “This is the first time we are producing a film with a big hero like Vijay. We are very proud about it. Atlee and Vijay combination have worked well till now and we hope to recreate the Theri magic again”.
