Shivaay grossed 8.75 crore nett apprx on day one which is a low number but its an average first day if we take into account it was pre Diwali and the mass markets where it had potential to do well were always going to struggle to collect well. Despite it being pre Diwali the better collections have still come in mass centres, the film has its best collections Rajasthan, CP Berar, CI and Bihar where both multiplexes and single screens have done well. In UP it was the single screens which did well but multiplexes did not. The problem for the film was multiplexes in places like Mumbai, Delhi and Punjab where the collections are low and these will have to come to the fore on Monday. . The film also find it tough in mass markets over the weekend as Diwali gets closer and these key markets for the film get weaker. Despite a low number on Friday the flm will find it tough to find any growth over the weekend due to mass markets being weak though multiplexes in Mumbai, Delhi and Punjab can get gains though Diwali does affect business hugely in the North. The performance in South India is weak where traditionally Diwali has a limired affect in collections.Its going to be a wait and watch situation for the film till Monday and then that big jump will have to come. If these sort of numbers had come in a normal day then the film would practically have no chance. It is coincidence but the business is very similar to the Mohenjo Daro and Rustom clash with Ae Dil Hai Mushkil doing similar to Rustom on day one and Shivay similar to Mohenjo Daro. But as the business has come pre Diwali and bigger holidays to come both of the Diwali releases are in a better position as compared to their counterparts.

Shivaay dropped around 10-12% on Saturday with business around 8-8.25 crore nett. The drop for Shivaay like Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was mainly North and Central India but the problem for Shivaay was that it had a far larger contribution coming from mass centres and single screens and these tend to drop more which lead to Shivaay having a bigger drop. The film was better in Mumbai and South but in the latter the film is not collecting well and this area is best pre Diwali. The two day business of the film is around 17.25 crore nett. The first two day business of Shivaay is as follows. Friday - 9,15,00,000 Saturday - 8,25,00,000 apprx TOTAL - 17.40,00,000 Shivay will also find it tough going on Sunday as the markets where its best collections are will again be hit due to Diwali puja and could drop further. then it will be D Day on Monday as the audiences will be back and it will have to close the the gap on Ae Dil Hai Mushkil with a big number if it is to have any chance of succeeding.
The Diwali releases found it tough on Sunday which was expected due to Diwali puja. A drop was always the likely scenario and that is what has happenned. North India has taken a huge hit with collections in some cities at around 50% of day one. The early estimates for Sunday are around 8.50 crore nett for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and 6.50 crore nett for Shivaay. The drops are the opposite of Saturday as different territories behave differently on Sunday and the added factor of pre Diwali. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has best business in South and North and the former does not grow much on Sunday and the latter has been hit hugely by pre Diwali. Shivaay has lesser business in terms of ratio from these areas so on Sunday it has shown a lesser drop than Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. The weekend business of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is good as long as it goes on from here over the holiday period over the next two days which should enable it to hold on Wednesday. The weekend will be around 34 crore nett which is good for pre Diwali. . Shivaay has more work to do as its business will be a around 24 crore nett and normally this would be lights out but now with the holiday period the film can still recover but for that it will have to be much higher than its opening day which is possible. The audience will come back in multiplexes of mass centres and that is the key for the film as if these collect very well it will mean the single screens are on board as well. If its just single screens then the film will find it tough going..
