Pulimurugan becomes the 11th Industry Hit of Mohanlal, most by any actor in Mollywood

Pulimurugan had become the new industry hit in Mollywood as it had surpassed Drishyam record on its 16th day.

Mohanlal movie Drishyam had become the industry hit in 2013 and till this October, Drishyam remained at the top like a boss.

But Now, Pulimurugan became the fastest ever Mollywood movie to become an industry hit. This is the 11th Industry Hit in Mollywood in which Mohanlal played a part.

Thalavattam directed by Priyadarshan was the first Industry Hit of Mohanlal, which released in 1986. It had collected over 1 crore at that time.

The very next year, in 1987, Mohanlal’s Irupatham Noottandu had become an industry hit by grossing over 2 crore. It was the first movie to gross 2 crore + in Mollywood.

Then in 1988, Mohanlal movie Chithram became the first Malayalam movie to gross over 3 crore and became an industry hit.

Mohanlal again made history in 1991, as his movie Kilukkam had become the first Mollywood movie to gross over 5 crore in box office.

The collection record set by Kilukkam has been surpassed by Mohanlal movie Manichithra Thazhu in 1993.

In 1996, Mammootty’s Hitler surpassed that record and become the industry hit. But in 1997, Kunchacko Boban starrer Aniyathipravu had surpassed the record set by Hitler and in the same year Mohanlal’s Chandralekha had surpassed that record by Aniyathipravu.

Chandralekha was the first Mollywood movie to collect 10 crore + and in that same year, Mohanlal scored another record breaker as his Aaram Thamburan had surpassed Chandralekha.

In 2000, Narasimham was released which become the first movie to gross over 15 crore from Kerala and also become the first Malayalam movie to do a business over 20 crores.

In 2008, multi-starrer Twenty 20 came and become the first Malayalam movie to gross over 20 crores from Kerala alone.

In 2013, Drishyam came and become the first ever Mollywood movie to cross 30 and 40 crore mark in Kerala alone and also become the first Mollywood movie to gross 50 crore from worldwide run. It had got more than 66 crores from its worldwide run.

Now, Pulimurugan had made history this year surpassing Drishyam and will soon become the first ever Malayalam movie to gross over 50 crores from Kerala and may become the first 100 crore earning movie in Mollywood.
