As the stand off in Mollywood continues following the tussle between the film organisations over profit sharing, here is a rather interesting rumour. According to certain sources, there are plans to release Sathyan Anthikkad’s Jomonte Suvisheshangal in multiplexes and some select B class centres. This could be a bold move as the A class theatre owners have been on a strike, demanding a 50:50 share from the producers/distributors, at par with the multiplexes. Currently the exhibitors’ share is 40 %. Jomonte Suvisheshangal, starring Dulquer Salmaan in the lead, was announced as a Dec 16 release but it did not happen due to the strike. The release of films like Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, Fukri and Ezra has been affected as well. Meanwhile there are reports indicating the withdrawal of films like Pulimurugan, Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan and Anandam, which are having a good run at the box office, from the theatres. The cinema strike is actually going to help the other language releases.
