    Every Christmas Mr. Perfectionist aka Aamir Khan makes way to the screens with a masterpiece bonanza. This year it’s Nitesh Kumar’s Dangal. The film has been in the news ever since it’s announcement. For those yet unaware, Dangal is based on the life of Mahavir Singh Phogat, who taught wrestling to his daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari and turned them into the nation’s prized possessions.

    Coming to box-office, the film has been allotted 4500 screens in India and over 1000 overseas. The film has been soaring high with rave reviews and positive word of mouth ever since the screening runs began.

    At the ticket windows, it opened to a superb 75% occupancy on day 1 in the morning shows and grew massively by the evening shows. Dangal’s first day collection closed at a whopping Rs. 29.70 crore approximately. From there on, it was havoc at the ticket windows. The film ran packed houses throughout the weekend thus making Rs. 34.82 crore approximately on Saturday and a mindboggling Rs. 42.35 crore on Sunday approximately. Its total domestic collection now stands at 106.95 crore approximately.

    So far, only five films have so far crossed the 100 crore mark in 3 days (Dhoom 3, Happy New Year, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Sultan). Dangal becomes the 6th. With Rs. 106.95 crore, Dangal beats the first weekend total of Rs. 105.53 crore and clocks in the biggest weekend total of 2016.

    The steep high on Sunday (Christmas day) and the fact that smaller centres too have shown an impressive graph implies that Dangal has all that it takes to become the highest grosser of the year 2016.

    All in all, Aamir Khan has done it again, broken box-office records again and emerged triumphant yet AGAIN!

    Starting today and this entire week will decide how many more records Dangal will break. It should bank above Rs 20 crore today to make it to the 300 crore mark. So let’s wait and watch Dangal shatter that glass ceiling.
