The Edge of Seventeen Refreshing and Entertaining,The Edge of Seventeen has its heart at the right place. This one is a smartly crafted comedy drama that connects well with everyone.Haily Steinfeld is the heart and soul of this film,it is her charming performance that makes this cinema beautiful. She shoulders the whole film with her earnest and outstanding act.Blake Jenner,Woody Harrelson,Haley Richardson,Hayden Szeto and Kyra Sedgwivk were superb playing prominent roles. Directed by Kelly Fremon Craige, this cinema has got all the elements needed for a coming off age comedy drama. The soundtracks, frames and some beautifully written dialogues makes this a notch above the usual cinemas of this genre. The biggest strength of the film is the way in which it connects with everyone, every character and every situation is treated flawlessly. The film brilliantly captures the essence of true teen life,a smart portrait of youth. Good Will Hunting Feel-Good and Inspirational,Good Will Hunting is a solid emotional drama.Competing performances from the leads backed by the entertaining narration makes this an excellent watch.Matt Damon and Robin Williams were top-class with their performances, both the actors were astounding making it one among their finest performances.Ben Affleck,Stellan Skarsgard and Minnie were superb playing the supporting roles.Watch out for Casey Affleck who looks super funny and delivers a hilarious performance. Direction by Gus Van Sant is top notch. He perfectly blended every scene with the right amount of feel, special mention for bringing out the best from every actor. The soundtracks were too good and they finely synced with the proceedings. The well written dialogues added an extra charm to the movie. The climax and post climax sequences are pure class, especially the scene between Matt and Robin. In short, this is a cinema of high positivism and feel-good entertainment. Overall,Good Will Hunting is Excellent ! 8.5/10
La La Land La La Land is easily the most enjoyable cinema in recent times. The soulful performances, the soothing musical tracks and a joyous narrative pattern makes it a spellbinding cinematic experience.Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone were at their best, both the actors outperformed themselves in every scene and their wonderful onscreen chemistry worked out big time making this cinema even more beautiful. There is nothing much to mention about the performances of other actors since Ryan and Emma remains in the spotlight for every second. Right from the exceptionally crafted opening sequence, the film grabs your attention instantly.Damien Chazelle owns all the applause for his charming and entertaining making, the way he crafted each sequence was fabulous.Eventhough there are a number of memorable moments, the opening scene along with that beautiful dream sequence at the end remains the best. This is undoubtedly a cinema which shows compete justice to its genre - a wonderful romantic musical drama. Overall,La La Land is a Masterpiece ! 9.5/10 "City of Stars,Are you shining just for me City of Stars,There is so much i can see"
Almost Christmas Almost Christmas is a watchable comedy drama. The performances and some finely crafted scenes are the prime factors which makes this a decent cinema.Since the cast is a bit too long,it wil be quite tiring to point out the performance of every actor. But in fact,it is the superb performances which makes the proceedings enjoyable. David E. Talbert's direction is fine though nothing great to mention about. He takes the safe route making a usual comedy drama that has christmas as its prime backdrop.Even if some of the scenes were a bit melodramatic, some other sequences were really good.Altogether, this is a simple comedy drama with some regular clichés,keep your expectations low so that you might end up liking this. Overall,Almost Christmas is Watchable ! 6/10
The Others (2001) This film is yet another horror film that proves that big budget special effects suck. The Others It's a creepy film, that has its very scary moments. This is a film that will not be forgotten. It'll be stuck in my mind for a long time. This really reminded me of an old 40's or 50's film. I highly recommend this film to every fan of ghost stories.... 8/10 NB: Moonnamathu Oral (mal) movie has the same theme
The Great Wall a.k.a Matt Damon fighting monsters in ancient China The above description is the perfect summary of this movie. The movie is primarily aimed for the Chinese market.(Director and almost the entire cast are Chinese)The movie is about a legend associated with The Great Wall of China. The wall is there to stop some monsters.Matt Damon who plays a soldier for hire stumbles into the Chinese Warriors fighting the monsters . I like monster movies.Great Wall has some nice action sequences and the monsters are menacing enough. The problem is that it is too by the numbers. There is no real tension or awe.The movie is content to hit every expected plot point and nothing really stands out. In my opinion this movie can help you kill some time.It is not by any standards a great or a very good movie. It is a passable and disposable monster movie.Considering the talents involved this could have been better though
