Date : 10/02/2017 Theater : Q Cinemas Time : 1:10pm Status : 100% Edgy and Spine-Chilling,Ezra is a brilliantly crafted horror thriller.An unfamiliar setting backed by the superior technical aspects,pitch-perfect making and a dominating performance form its lead hero makes this a totally new and completely engaging cinematic experience.Prithvi nailedit,he puts up a beautifully controlled and exceptional performance as Ranjan,his performance in the climax scenes were just outstanding.No other actor could have pulled off this role as superbly as Prithvi did.Being his hardocre fan,i'm really happy too see him taking such good roles and also the way he uplifts the standard of mollywood industry.Tovino was good in a brief role.Anjali in her debut malayalam venture delivers a commendable performance.Vijayaraghavan,Sujith Shanker,Sudev Nair,Alencier and Babu Anthony were fine in prominent roles. Technically Sound and Superior,Ezra in all means is a top-notch product.From the classy frames to the escalating bgm,each and every aspect was on par with international standards.The cinematography by Sujith is excellent,those superb frames along with that perfect color tone made this cinema stick true to its genre.Bgm is another superb aspect,it gelled with the proceedings nicely and made many of the scenes a notch above of what it should be.Art direction is excellent,the 1941 period was smartly visualised.Songs were good,Lailakame is the best and Thambirane comes as the second best.1st half started slowly and settles within a few minutes,there were few scare jumps which had some real good effect.It ended on an impressive interval punch with that amazing bgm.2nd half was equally good with few spooky scenes.The pre-climax twist along with a neatly executed climax made it better on the whole. Jay.K being a debutante director showcased his mettle as a good filmmaker.The cinema doesn't have any glitches of a new-comer,indeed it is flawless in the making side.Kudos to Jay.K for taking a complex theme on board and presenting it neatly in his debut venture itself.From what the teasers and trailer promised,Ezra is a completely satisfying cinema and indeed meets the huge expectation it had.This one is definitely an asset for our industry,may it be the technical brilliance or the cinematic quality,Ezra is outstanding.Horror thrillers are indeed the least explored genre in malayalam,but Prithvi along with the makers have crafted a superb cinema.Finally,Ezra without doubt is one of the finest horror thrillers ever made in Indian Cinema.
