Ezra Movie - It's not about jump scares or blood and gore; but the movie creates a mystic, haunting & eerie atmosphere which is definitely new to Malayalam cinema, and stays true to the genre like never before. Director Jay R Krishnan shows immense maturity & promise through his debut with his spectacular craft, and the bold choice of making a pure horror flick for the audacious Malayali audience as his first film. Instead of making an out & out scary movie, he decides to narrate a haunting story set against a Jewish backdrop, which is perhaps the most amusing factor of the film! And kudos to Mukesh Mehta, C.V. Sarathi & AV Anoop for backing his vision and ensuring that the film is made in its finest form. Haven't seen such amazing production values for a Malayalam film in the recent past. Sujith Vaassudev has done his career best work in this film with some amazing dim-light cinematography and creates a haunting atmosphere through lights & shades combined with the perfect amount of darkness. Vivek Harshan keeps you hooked with his editing, Sushin Shyam Tdt's haunting background score is terrific, especially the Thambiran song and its refrains in the score. Anish John's deadly sound design & Raja Krishnan's sound mixing are the life of the movie. Probably one of the best works in recent times in our cinema. (Want to experience it in Atmos as well). Rahul Raj creates a lovely melody through Lailakame. Ratheesh U K & Gokul Das create an ambience and atmosphere which we have never experienced so far in Malayalam, through their fantastic production design & art direction. Stephy Xavior's costumes are also excellent.
Priya Anand does really well in her Malayalam debut; Vijayaraghavan and Babu Antony are really good; Sujith Shanker's casting was a very clever choice; Tovino Thomas makes his presence felt in a short but important cameo (and the reactions to his intro prove that he's the next big star we're going to have); Sudev Nair & Ann Sheetal leave a lasting impression; and then there's the graceful presence of the voices of Indrajith Sukumaran & Sunny Wayne.

And finally, Prithviraj Sukumaran aces the role, expressing fear and helplessness brilliantly when he has to, and a bravura performance in the climax. Again, a brave choice by the actor to take up such a role and lend his star power to it.
Super happy and proud to have been a part of this landmark film by subtitling it. I'm sure it will be noticed very well among the non-Malayali audience as well, when it release all over India on Feb 17th.
PS - Watching it in a multiplex would be the better option, to avoid some percentage of the losers who don't know how to watch a horror film and end up spoiling the whole experience for everyone else by making all sorts of noises and comments to cover up their fear and show that they're over-smart. The work & efforts of the sound design & music team would get drowned in their cruelty. So please respect that.
