Badrinath Ki Dulhania has recorded the 16th highest Monday of all time. It might not be very high up the chart but if looked at films above it they are all far bigger films with all of them being at least double the cost of Badrinath Ki Dulhania. It was a holiday for Holi but majority of the other films which have high Monday's were also holidays. Badrinath Ki Dulhania may be a medium budget film but what sets its apart from other films of its ilk is that it has a wider reach which enables it get a bigger benefit of a holiday than others films of its size would do as they have potential in a few cities only. Badrinath Ki Dulhania had a huge Monday of 12 crore nett apprx which was similar to the first day as it was Holi. The film had lost some business over the weeknd due to this so made up some extra ground on Monday. The collections were higher in some circuits on Monday than on the first day. It has already collected 54 crore nett in four days which is very good but the test is over the weekdays and how strongly it can hold and then the crucial 8th day on Friday. Badrinath Ki Dulhania had a good first week of 72.25 crore nett which is in the same range as Jolly LLB 2 which grossed 72.98 crore nett. The business is also in the same range as ABCD 2 (71.87 crore nett) which is the highest first week for a Varun Dhawan starrer outside the Shahrukh Khan led Dilwale. Badrinath Ki Dulhania had a good weekend but was affected by pre Holi in many circuits but made up for that post Holi over the weekdays. The film is HIT already and has all chances of becoming the biggest HIT of the year as it chases the business of Jolly LLB 2 which is the biggest HIT of the year so far. The competition is weak this week with films like Aa Gaya Hero, Machine and Trapped so the film will still be leading the box office race but a strong hold is important if the film is really to benefit from the fact there are no high profile releases for the next 5-6 weeks.

 

Badrinath Ki Dulhania continued to be the best performing film of 2017 post the first week with collections of around 2.50 crore nett which takes its lifetime business to over 91 crore nett. The second week will go over 25 crore nett and there have been 30 odd films that have done that in the past.



The best performance has come in mass belts for the film be it a UP, CI or Rajasthan. It will beat the figures of Jolly LLB 2 in these places and could even surpass Raees and both these films had people like a Shahrukh Khan and Akshay Kumar who are big draws in mass pockets.
