Actor Karthi’s next untitled project with national award-winning filmmaker Pandiraj starts rolling from today. The movie features Sayyeshaa, who made her Tamil debut in Jayam Ravi’s Vanamagan and is currently part of Vijay Sethupathi’s Junga, playing the main lead heroine role. The film is being produced by Suriya, brother of Karthi, under his home banner 2D Entertainment.

Suriya’s 2D is known for producing quality projects that appeal to family and kids. His first production 36 Vayadhinile, that was marketed heavily as Jyotika’s comeback film, minted money at the box office and emerged as a super hit. 2D’s second project Pasanga 2 directed by Pandiraj was centred on kids suffering attention deficit disorder and dealt the issue brilliantly. The following projects of 2D Entertainment were mounted on a big scale including Suriya’s sci-fi thriller 24 and Jyotika’s recent outing Magalir Mattum, which featured an all-star cast of yesteryear heroines. Now, this untitled film with Karthi marks the fifth production of 2D and is touted to be a feel-good family entertainer, a genre which is not often explored in Tamil cinema of late.
Apart from Sayyeshaa, the makers are also in talks with Priya Bhavani Shankar, the new sensation who earned the love of youngsters for her role in Meyaadha Maan, and the Premam fame Anupama Parameswaran, who was last seen opposite Dhanush in Kodi. Both Priya and Bhavani have given in-principle nods to the film, but the official signing formalities are yet to be completed.

Karthi is currently awaiting the release of Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, a crime thriller based on real-life incidents that shook the state of Tamil Nadu once. The movie is directed by Sathuranga Vettai fame director Vinoth and stars Rakul Preet as the lead heroine. Ghibran has composed the music.
