Love is one emotion that brings out the human in us. It is a feeling which makes us do things which normally scares us. it is the most selfish and selfless emotion at the same time. 'October' movie is about love and how it helps to grow as a person. It takes us through the story of Dan, a rebellious hotel management trainee played by Varun Dhawan. Rebellious, irresponsible life of Dan takes a turn when one of his co-workers is met with an accident. Rest of the movie is how he reacts to it and how it shapes him. From another perspective, it is a movie about a family's journey when one of their own met with a serious accident. The movie moves at an absorbing pace which gives us ample time to assimilate the situation and its emotion. The cinematography blended in with writing from word go which helps to bring a new dimension to the movie. usage of seasons adds depth to the emotional journey and also provided us with some moments of beauty on screen. BGM was mostly soothing and sober and went along with the nerve-wrenching sound effects in the hospital scenes. The acting was subtle and realistic. It was a pleasure to see Varun Dhawan playing nuances of Dan with a lot of subtlety. The girl who played shiuli, had a face which is going to stay with us for a long period of time. Gitanjali Rao who played shiuli's mother came up with one of the memorable performances in recent times. All in all, October is a movie which takes through the emotions of few people when they are met with a situation and how it shapes them to move forward in their lives. Shoojit sarcar's executed his vision to perfection and brings out the best from his technical team. It is refreshing to see a Hindi film with depth and about real human emotions. You don't want to miss it if you like to experience a realistic, emotional cinematic journey.
