Shoorjit Sircar who has given us an array of wonderful movies like Pink, Piku, Madras Café, Vicky Donor etc is the Director of October and this movie too is a classic movie. Shoorjit has definitely breathed life in each and every scene of October… What really mesmerized me was seeing Varun’s acting….the guy whom we have seen always bubbly and naughty – he does have an another version too…. Yes, this movie showcases a very different version of Varun…I think this is one of the finest performance of Varun…Debutant Banita (Shiuli) looks pretty, expressive emotions… And voila, the name Shiuli also pretty attracted me…a different name! It means Night Jasmine . Also hatsoff to the lady who had done the role of Shiuli’s mother (Gitanjali)..another class actor! The movie is all about a hotel management studen Varun Dhawan (Dan) working as an intern….and one of his colleague (Shiuli) suddenly lands up at hospital and is in coma. Thereafter there are lots of twists and turns.. Varun doesn’t speak in volumes, but yea very straight forward and blunt…the Devdas look of Varun – uff he has carried it so well! Not all may like, but someone who has a heart that cares and understands will surely fall in love with the movie. No much drama, no much romance, no aaaltu faaltu dialogues ….more of love….someone may even feel its your story! At times, you may forget that you are watching a movie; instead, you become a spectator to the lives of real people with real and uncorrupted emotions. What needs applause here is there is a scene at the hospital between Dan and Shiuli, where they acknowledge their relationship in their own indescribable way….hats off to Juhi for skilfully writing and well-enacted by the artists…. I loved the background score as well done by Shantanu Moitra – it really blends very well adding mood to the movie… The movie is a bit slow which is the only factor one might feel boring (but not all who really can connect to the movie). With a heart that craves for love do see this movie! Worth a watch.. I feel lost when I think that people go to watch all bullshit movies of the khan family (pardon me all khan lovers) ..why cant they shed few pennies to watch the movies that are classic! One really need to be very patient and understand the movie…once you do that, the movie gets connected to ur heart….and then there is no need to use ur mind….your heart itself will flow with the tale….. For me, should be nominated for Oscars…. In short, a movie with deep meaning of immortal or unconditional love….less of words and more of emotions….. Rating : 3.8/5
