Shahid bags the lead role in the Hindi remake of Arjun Reddy Telugu superhit film, Arjun Reddy, is being remade in Hindi. Shahid Kapoor has been roped in for the lead role amidst various speculations. Earlier it was suggested that Arjun Kapoor would be playing the role but Mumbai Mirror confirmed that Shahid has given his nod for the project. Shahid, who is currently shooting for Batti Gul Meter Chalu with Shraddha Kapoor, had apparently been discussing the project with the makers since a long time. However, the female lead has still not been cast. The film is at the pre-production stage and the makers are finalising the locations of the shoot. It has been confirmed that the film will be shot in India and abroad. The film is expected to go on floors in July. The original Telugu flick starred Vijay Devarakonda as Arjun, a brilliant surgeon, who goes down the dark path of alcoholism and substance abuse after a failed relationship. The film was an instant success as it catered to the youth. It was then reported that it would be remade in several languages. A Tamil remake is also in the works. Shahid was last seen in the blockbuster Padmaavat as Maharawal Ratan Singh alongside Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh.
