    Remember June 14, 2016?

It was the historic night for the tiny nation, Iceland, when they had battled back to frustrate Portugal 1-1 in Euro 2016 in the Group F opening match.

The Euro 2016 was Iceland’s maiden appearance in a major tournament. In addition to that achievement, they had managed to hold a superior team like Portugal for a draw just added to their merry.

In the 31st minute, Nani put Portugal 1-0 up before Birkir Bjarnason went into history books for becoming Iceland’s first goal scorer in a major tournament.
In that match, Portugal’s captain and Real Madrid star Ronaldo took 10 shots at the goal but failed to convert any of those shots. The Icelanders survived Ronaldo and an entire Portuguese team, deep into injury time, before they finally went away with a precious point.

A frustrated Ronaldo, in the post-match interview, called Iceland a country with “small mentality,” and said they would not go anywhere from there.

“Iceland didn’t try anything. They were just defend, defend, defend and playing on the counterattack. It was a lucky night for them. We should have three points but we are OK. I thought they’d won the Euros the way they celebrated at the end. It was unbelievable.

When they don’t try to play and just defend, defend, defend, this in my opinion shows a small mentality and they are not going to do anything in the competition. They have already accomplished more than expected and were at one with their fans after the final whistle while Ronaldo raged at the referee,” whined the Portuguese captain.

Arrogance, especially on the pitch, has been a part of Ronaldo ever since he became a superstar in the glamorous world of football. Ronaldo has massive ego and his celebration tells it all. Meanwhile, his arch rival, Lionel Messi is the quieter one out of the two. Almost never you will hear such arrogant comments from FC Barcelona’s legend.

Messi saw himself in the same position as Ronaldo against Iceland on Saturday in Argentina’s FIFA World Cup opener. The Little Master tried 11 shots on the goal but Iceland were strong enough to deny Messi his first goal of World Cup 2018.

Unlike Ronaldo, at the end of the match, Messi appreciated Iceland’s effort and said Argentina will comeback in the next match.

“It hurts to have missed the penalty, because it would've been the decisive advantage. We haven't lost hope despite the draw. We still have the same desire. I think we deserved to win. We tried to find spaces in the Iceland defense, but we couldn't find them,” Messi said.

Who is the arrogant of Messi and Ronaldo? I think the debate ends here!
