Has Kamal Haasan's last film Indian 2 finally been dropped? Details inside

Kamal Haasan’s national award-winning 1996 film Indian which had the hit the headlines more than two decades later after a sequel to it was announced. The film, which was supposed to be the veteran actor’s last film, has reportedly been shelved as per circulating media reports.

The widely-anticipated movie, as per a report in IBTimes, has been shelved due to budget issues. No official confirmation regarding the same has been made, however, speculation is rife that Lyca Productions has decided to drop the project.

The report also went on to mention that the filmmakers have denied this development of late. If the latest rumour mill is anything to be believed, the budget was over-run even before the completion of the first schedule.

After Dil Raju had backed out from the project, Lyca Productions had picked it up. The team had had a specific budget plan in place but reportedly, more than double the amount was exhausted.
Since the past three months, the production house has reportedly been trying to cut down on the budget. As per unconfirmed reports, the actor’s heavy prosthetic make-over for the movie was an issue. Furthermore, not being able to find a proper villain in the face of a Bollywood actor despite after having approached Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar, compelled the production to have reportedly shelved the project.

Kajal Aggarwal of Singham fame was signed as the female lead for Indian 2. The original film had featured Manisha Koirala and Urmila Matondkar opposite Haasan.
