Yuvathurki/Suresh Gopi Facts: 1) The movie 'Yuvathurki', released in 1996 was the one and only malayalam movie produced by the legend of Indian Cinema, Amitabh Bachan. 2) 'Yuvathurki' was the first (and only??) malayalam movie to have simultaneous release in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Mind you, this was in 1996. Even now, Malayalam movies find it hard to have simultaneous release in even 2 languages, let alone 4. Now you ask why? Most of the new generation malayalam movie lovers will find it hard to believe this, but Suresh Gopi was some kind of a sensation in south india during those times, more so in Andhra Pradesh. The telugu dubbed version of the movie 'Commissioner', named 'Police Commissioner', broke several collection records in Andhra in 1994. 3) Such was his popularity that through the salary he got for 'Yuvathurki', Suresh Gopi became the highest paid actor in malayalam industry at that time (45 lakshs INR, equivalent to almost 17 crore INR in 2016!!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable right??) 4)'Yuvathurki' was also one of the costliest malayalam movies ever produced, if accounted for inflation. In fact, it still remains as the costliest malayalam action movie ever produced, again accounting inflation. 5) In the recorded history of malayalam cinema, for the first time there was lathi charges on the opening day of a movie release for 'Yuvathurki'. 6) The first weekend collections of 'Yuvathurki' was one of the highest for a malayalam movie in the 90's, due to the simultaneous release. 7) 'Yuvathurki' gave Suresh Gopi with the title 'Supreme Star', long before titles were given to Mammootty(Megastar) and Mohanlal (Complete Actor).
