45 years It tells the story of Kate and Geoff, who has been a happily married couple for 45 years. just a week before their anniversary Geoff receives a letter about his girl friend before kate who died more than 50 years ago. this letter definitely make Geoff upset and he starts to behave oddly. Rest of the story is how this behaviour and some revelations about Geoff change the way they look back at their life. even though story is told in a subtle and realistic way it grows on us with each scene. Even though they are some lighter moments which will tear up our eyes with joy but its that odd feeling of sadness that linger in our heart and leaves a lasting impression. In acting side Charlotte Rampling came up with a master class on acting and will surely stay with us for a long period of time. Its rare these days to see someone using body language to convey emotions and tell the story within the story. there was 2 scenes that stands out in mind; one in which she plays a piano and the climax scene where how she dances with Geoff. Tom Courtenay also played his role with a lot of conviction that at times we ends up rooting for his passionate emotions. Its endearing to watch the lush county side with those wooden fences, rivers and roads with tress on both sides. more than that cinematographer has done an excellent job in absorbing the emotions of Geoff and Kate that it feels like a one week journey with Geoff and Kate. Sound mixing was another technical department which stands out and that moved along with the emotions of kate. All in all 45 years is a movie which linger in our heart like some short stories because of its subtle and realistic story telling. My Rating : 4/5
