Review Paavada Review

Paavada revolves around the two central characters Paambu Joy played by Prithviraj and Professor Babu Joseph played by Anoop Menon. The film starts off with narration by a drunkard seated in a toddy shop who introduces the characters. It has two completely different genres in both the halves. While the first half consists of comedies revolving around the lives of drunkards, the second half is where the story gathers pace. The first is all about Prithvi and Anoop Menon’s character meeting in a de-addiction center and becoming friends and ends with the relevance of the title Paavada coming as the interval shot. Not elaborating too much about the second half as it might lead to spoilers. Felt the second half was better compared to the first half.

Coming into the performances Prithvi carries the movie throughout with comedy in the first half and emotional scenes in the second half. His mannerisms as Paambu Joy is fun to watch and he has rocked in the movie. He is ably supported by Anoop Menon who has almost equal importance in the movie. Others in the movie such as Nedumudi Venu, Maniyanpilla Raju, Chemban Vinod, Asha Sharat and Sai Kumar have done their part well. Not too impressed with the performance of Sharafudeen. And the narration part could have been completely avoided.
