Remember that small sequence from Mammootty starrer Iyer the great wherein his character finds out the toxicity in baby food and expose the corporate?? Now make this as the basic plot and expand it into a full throat war with the big shot corporate by a common man with detailed analysis on the sales- consumer work flow emphasizing on the role of Salesman or Velaikaran will give you this film. Mohan raja has set the heart of Velaikaran in the right place and he should be applauded for taking up much relevant social theme but the problem with the film is that its writer (Raja himself) have failed to put things across organically . The dismantled screenplay is manipulated to suit the narrative rather than letting story have a natural course of its own. The inane technics adopted by the hero to bring down the mega powerful corporates does not help either . Evidently much research have gone in understanding the corporate sales but in the movie space i found it bit overdone as many a times i felt attending a sales meet. Sivakarthikeyan holds the film together effectively and boy what energy he got while dancing !! Fahad is good but his tamil dubbing obviously lacks the flow. Nayantara looking gorgeous is wasted in a inconsequential role. Not that Velaikaran is a bad movie. Its just that by the end of the film one could feel unsatisfied and leave you wanting for more.
