    Driving Licence

Driving Licence takes a detour from the routine commerical potboilers, with an intriguing premise chauffered by a novel conflict, the latest offering by Prithvi is a wholesome entertainer. The film strikes you as genuinely heartfelt and has an ample dose of smiles and sighs in store. Hareendran is an absolutely dynamic character and thrives on the vivacious charm of the actor who plays it. Yet another commendable performance that we have seen from Prithvi, Hareendran is effortlessly and efficiently played by the actor. There is also an outstanding performance from Suraj, who holds his own opposite a performer like Prithvi, and in a few scenes even drags the carpet from right under his feet. The film has an ensemble cast comprising of names like Saiju Kurup, Nandu, Suresh Krishna, Miya and many more and everyone does their part with aplomb.

Jean Paul doesn't pull the conflict to any excessively formidable terrain, and he tries to club that moderately quirky treatment with the very rooted reality of the central dispute. Driving Licence is both technically sound and cinematically solid, the laudable writing by Sachi, quality visuals, crisp cuts and elegant musical score are worth a special mention. A film with a real pulse, ‘Driving Licence’ keeps you hooked from moment to moment, and yes, Jean Paul seems to have a winner in his hands.

In a nutshell, Driving Licence is a genuinely entertaining cinematic experience !

    Valiyaperunnal

Extremely convoluted and messy, scattered aayittu kurachu nalla moments und. It's somewhat pretentious when it comes to the narrative, it tries really hard to maintain a raw and realistic texture, but nalla bore aanu idakku okke. Shane kollam, bakki cast okke valare authentic aanu, but film-il onumilla and it drags for no real purpose. It runs for more than three hours, itrayum lengthy aaya oru film-il enthenkilum oru X-factor venam, but to my disappointment, it had nothing.

Overall, Valiyaperunnal is a downright mediocre flick !

    Thambi

Reminds me of Jeethu's Drishyam, it was a cleanly written film, ithu kurachu muddled up aanu, still an interesting second half makes it somewhat a watchable film. Jeethu making aa pazhaya finesse illa, this one is way better than all of his recent outings post Drishyam, but it lacks something. The big final reveal was pretty good, and without any second thoughts, athu thanne aanu film-inte major strength. Karthi & Sathyaraj kidu aayirunnu, Jyothika kollam. If Jeethu showed the same amount of panache that he had while doing Drishyam, this could've been a competent thriller, nonetheless, oru easy one time watch aanu film.

To sum it up, Thambi is a passable flick !

    Mamangam

Bhayankara outdated feel aanu film-inu, occasionally kurachu nalla scenes und, but as a whole, oru average product maatram aanu. Mammukka, Unni & aa kutti nannayitund. Basic premise valare intriguing aanu, but Padmakumar-inte making valare flawed and inconsistent aanu, if it was helmed by someone else, it could've been a lot better.

Overall, Mamangam is an average period drama !

    Kettiyolanu Ente Malakha

With a terrific Asif Ali delivering an incredible performance on screen, happiness is the guaranteed output of this film. Asif's growth as a performer is terrific, Uyare, Virus, Kakshi Ammini Pilla and this one. Ee year-ile one of the finest aanu film, valare simple and rooted aaya narrative, authentic performances, adequate production value, this one shouldn't be missed.

On the whole, Kettiyolanu Ente Malakha is a delightful cinema !

    Other Languages

Mardaani 2 - Pretty generic, still valare engaging aanu sfilm !

Pati Patni Aur Woh - Decent Entertainer !

Knives Out - Brings back the classic whodunit in a delightfully entertaining fashion, must watch !

Ford v Ferrari - Riveting sports drama, up there with my favorites !

21 Bridges - Easy one time watch !

Motherless Brooklyn - Falls short of becoming a masterpiece, nonetheless, it's a decent throwback to classic noir.
