Sultan aka Salman Khan all set to shoot in China for the first time!
Sultan includes a sequence that’ll recreate the 2010 Asian Games held in China…​

This will be a first for Salman Khan. His next big release, Sultan, will be shot in China. This will be for the sequences in the film that would recreate the 2010 Asian Games held in Guangzhou, China.

Our source confirms, “This happens in March next year. Since Salman is playing a wrestler in the film, it is also a given that he would be competing at the highest levels internationally. A portion of the film needs him to be participating in the 2010 Asian Games. To recreate the sequences, the Sultan team would be canning a number of scenes in China.”

While the outdoor shoot would be shot in China, the indoors of the Asian Games could be recreated in Delhi itself. It is not yet decided if Salman would be required for the outdoor shoot of China as well. “This would be confirmed in due course,” our source adds, “Salman’s films are usually quite connected to India. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Jai Ho, Dabangg 2 — each of these has been a desi affair and hence, didn’t necessitate any travel for Salman. He did travel extensively though for Kick and Ek Tha Tiger, since the subjects demanded it. Now, since Sultan, too, has a portion set in China, it won’t be surprising if Salman boards that flight as well.”

“The entire creative and technical team of Sultan has a task in hand as they need to recreate not just 2010 Asian Games but also 2010 Commonwealth Games that were held in India,” an insider reveals.

This makes it one of the most ambitious sports flicks for Yash Raj Films after Shah Rukh Khan’s Chak De! India. With as many as two global events waiting to be recreated for the big screen, the pre-production of the Salman Khan-starrer is in the final stages​

With his Shah Rukh Khan-starrer “Raees” and Salman Khan’s “Sultan” expected to clash at the box office next year, actor-producer Farhan Akhtar is hoping that the business of the two movies would not be affected.

Action-thriller “Raees”, produced by Farhan’s Excel Entertainment and directed by Rahul Dholakia, is slated to release on Eid next year, competing with Aditya Chopra’s “Sultan”.


When asked if the big clash will really happen, Farhan said, “That we will see… Let the date come around. We are releasing our film on Eid, will they also release the same time, that Salman Khan will decide.”

On if he thinks the business (of the two movies) will be affected, the filmmaker said, “I would hope not.”

According to Farhan, however, the clash will be a great fun for the audience.

“I think it will be great for audience… They will have a wonderful Eid,” he said.

In 2006 also, Shah Rukh-starrer “Don” released alongside Salman’s “Jaan-E-Mann”. “Don” became a superhit, while “Jaan-E-Mann” failed to create magic at the box office.

In Bollywood, often festive releases are blocked by the Khans.

To this Farhan said, “There is no such thing called block a date… You can’t block a date. Anyone can release their film on any day if they want to, and if not then it’s their choice. I don’t believe in that. I don’t think those people believe in that either.”

“If you have a festive release date, it is easier to recall, like “Raees” releasing on Eid, but one doesn’t know what date Eid is. So there is an association that happens with it,” he said.

According to DNA, a source said, "After the 30 second teaser, a full fledged teaser for Sultan will be unveiled on his birthday this year."

The first look and teaser of Sultan revealed only Salman's name in the film, but the second teaser will feature him as a wrestler. "The first teaser was shot because he grew facial fuzz and had bulked up, but this one will see him in the wrestler avatar," DNA quoted a source as saying.



The makers are yet to make an official announcement regarding the leading lady. A lot of portions have been filmed without its lead female actor. According to a report in Catch News, director Ali Abbas was quoted saying, "Major portions of Sultan will be shot without the female lead. We will announce the female lead of Sultan by January-end."

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan also released the second teaser of his upcoming film Fan on his 50th birthday on November 2 this year. And now Salman Khan is also following the same trend and has a return gift for his fans in store.

Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, Sultan stars Salman as a 40-year-old wrestler from Haryana. Sultan will release on Eid 2016 and is expected to clash with Shah Rukh's Raees.
