    Prithviraj to act in three historical films

    Prithviraj seems to literally be on an 'epic' signing spree these days.

    The actor, who was part of the historical project Urumi in Malayalam, has signed three such movies to be shot in the next few years. He will star in Hariharan's Syamanthakam and an RS Vimal movie - both based on characters from Mahabharatha - and another film tentatively titled Kunchirakkottu Kaali about the warriors of Venad and their battles in 1600s.
    On the RS Vimal movie, the director tells us, "It will be a `45-crore project, which will be shot in the backdrop of Ganges and Haridwar. Based on a mythological hero in Mahabharatha, it will have Prithviraj playing an important character."
    The superstar will also essay the role of Lord Krishna in Hariharan's Syamanthakam. The movie centres on an episode in the life of Krishna in Mahabharatha and how he becomes a suspect when a diamond, Syamanthakam, is stolen. Hariharan had earlier informed us that the shoot of the movie will begin in March 2016 in North India.
    Ask RS Vimal if Prithviraj would repeat the role of Lord Krishna for his film and he replies, "I can't reveal his character right now." The director though tells us the filming is scheduled to begin next year. "There will be a host of leading actors from Tamil industry too. I will soon be travelling to Haridwar for its scripting," he says.
    Apart from the two big-budget productions, Prithviraj recently took to his social networking page to announce another period film about unsung heroes of Venad such as "Chief Lieutenant Iravikutty Pillai and his trusted disciple Kunchirakkottu Kaali". "The lives, sacrifices and heroism of these immortal warriors of Venad will soon be relived through an epic. The magnum opus, Kunchirakkottu Kaali," he posted. About the project, Prithviraj tells us, "It's too early to talk about it. It's obviously a historic movie set in that period." The actor also confirms that he is part of the other two period films. "Syamanthakam and the RS Vimal movie are in the pipeline."
