Makers of the Akshay Kumar-starrer Toilet- Ek Prem Katha, which is being shot here, have landed in trouble with locals and religious leaders demanding action against them for wrongly depicting a local tradition.

They also have objected to the movie’s title.

A Mahapanchayat was held in Barsana village here on Monday in which Brijbhumi saints and locals demanded that a scene in the movie be deleted as it is “against tradition”.

The scene shows marriage between a boy and a girl from the twin villages of Nandgaon and Barsana.


“Marriages between the residents of the two villages are not solemnised since the age of Dwapar. The scene would be an attack on the tradition,” Ghanshyam Raj Bhatta, the convenor of Brajacharya Peetha Oonchagaon (Barsana), said.

Earlier, pradhans of 22 villages nearby Barsana had passed a resolution demanding removal of the marriage scene.

A delegation of saints, pradhans and community members would meet the district magistrate and demand removal of the scene and changing the movie’s title, local community leader Kishan Singh Gurjar said adding they will not hesitate approaching the high court, if the demand is not conceded.

 

Akshay Kumar‘s Toilet – Ek Prem Katha is currently being shot in Mathura in a major 40 day schedule. The man at the helm of affairs is Shree Narayan Singh who is looking at making it big in the world of Bollywood as a director. However, one fact about him is that he is also an established editor and one of his upcoming works is horror-musical Saansein – The Last Breath.

“Shree Narayan Singh has been consistently doing some very good work as an editor,” informs our source, “He has been the man behind all Neeraj Pandey films, be it A Wednesday, Special 26, Baby, Rustom or even short film, Ouch! In fact he would also be editing the next Neeraj Pandey film, Crack.”

Majority of the aforementioned films features Akshay Kumar in the lead role, which further adds credibility to Shree’s work as a technician.

“This is the reason why Saansein – The Last Breath too is looking like a slick affair,” says a senior unit member of the horror flick, “He knows how to make a film truly fast paced with twists and turns brought on screen in a seamless manner. He specializes in the thriller zone and since Saansein too is a roller coaster ride, the makers felt that he was best suited for the job.”

Saansein – The Last Breath tells the story of a young woman [Sonarika Bhadroia] who is a singer at a night club and disappears from the scene every night. Intrigued, the lead protagonist of the film, Rajniesh Duggall tries to figure out her whereabouts and the mystery behind her suspicious acts. The revelation that follows hits him like a thunderbolt.

“It is this roller coaster ride of the narrative that necessitated an experienced editor on board,” the unit member adds, “Director Rajiv S. Ruia is an experienced filmmaker and has been around for a decade and a half now. Saansein – The Last Breath is his first ever horror musical and he has pitched the film on a very good scale while also giving it a polished look. With Shree Narayan Singh coming on board, the film has turned out to be ultra-slick with a very fast paced narrative.”

No wonder, the film’s length is just 100 minutes. “That’s the apt duration for a film belonging to this genre,” says producer Goutam Kumar Jain, “A horror film should hold you well right through its duration and that makes the job of the editor all the more important. You can’t have any loose ends whatsoever and audience should not get even a minute to pause and think.”

'TOILET- EK PREM KATHA' TO RELEASE ON JUNE 2, 2017


Mumbai: Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar- starrer "Toilet- Ek Prem Katha" is set to release on June 2 next year.
A post on the film's official Twitter handle has confirmed the news.
"Hey guys, big news! #ToiletEkPremKatha starring @akshaykumar and @psbhumi to release worldwide on 2nd June, 2017," the post read.
Bhumi also retweeted the post for her fans by captioning it, "Hey guys, big news."
Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, the film is a love story with a satirical flavour.
It will be produced by Aruna Bhatia, Plan C Studios and Abundantia, and presented by Viacom18 Motion Pictures and KariArj Entertainment.
This is the first time, the "Dum Laga Ke Haisha" actress will share the screen space with Akshay Kumar.

The title of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha starring Akshay Kumar has irked spiritual leaders of Mathura.


Akshay Kumar and director Neeraj Pandey's upcoming movie Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has irked a Mathura-based spiritual leader. He has announced a reward of Rs 1 crore for anyone who would chop off the director's tongue and bring that to him.
It has been reported that spiritual leaders in Mathura, where shooting of the movie Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is underway, strongly opposed the film's title and storyline. One godman, Phooldol Behari Dass Maharaj demanded that the title of the film be changed or its shooting will not be allowed in the land, according to a report in Hindustan Times.


The report added that the spiritual leader, while addressing a gathering announced that whoever would bring the director's tongue would be rewarded with Rs 1 crore. The Toilet: Ek Prem Katha team has been shooting the film in Nandgaon and Barsana regions of Mathura.
There has been a tradition that no marriages can happen between couples hailing from Nandgaon and Barsana as it would go against the "pious love" of Lord Krishna and Radha. Lord Krishna belonged to Nandgaon and Radha hailed from Barsana.
There is a buzz that the movie's storyline is based on marriage between a couple hailing from the mentioned regions and that reportedly did not go down well with the spiritual leaders of the place. Also, the title of the film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha created an issue.
However, director Narain Singh has denied the rumours surrounding the plot of the movie and said that it is based on PM Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. "We are shooting scenes in Nandgaon and Barsana but every doubt would be cleared with release of movie as nowhere the name of Nandgaon has been used in it. The movie is on women's empowerment and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Barsana is chosen for communicating this message through 'lath-maar', Holi since Mughal period," the report quoted the director as saying.
