Ilayathalapathy’s risky action sequence in Vijay 61 Source : SIFY By : MOVIEBUZZ Last Updated: Sat, Feb 18, 2017 09:38 hrs Ilayathalapathy Vijay is currently busy shooting for the 80’s portions in his upcoming film with director Atlee. “The entire team was super impressed with Vijay’s risky action sequence in the recent schedule that he strictly refused for body double”, says a source close to the team. We also hear that the film’s music composer AR Rahman has delivered the first song and it will be shot in a festival backdrop. Nithya Menon plays Vijay’s pair in the 80’s portions, the film also has Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, SJ Suryah, Vadivelu, Sathyan and Kovai Sarala playing pivotal roles. Produced by Sri Thenandal Films, Vijay 61 is likely to hit the screens for Pooja holidays.

Scenes featuring Nithya and Vijay are currently being shot in ECR and surrounding locales. Initially, Jyothika was approached to play Nithya’s role but due to various reasons, the 36 Vayadhinile actress had opted out of the project. Sources also say that Ilayathalapathy will be seen sporting multiple looks in the film like Theri. Besides Vijay, the yet-untitled film also has ensemble of star cast Kajal Aggarwal, Samantha, Vadivelu, Sathyaraj, Kovai Sarala and SJ Suryah. Directed by Atlee, Sri Thenandal Films is bankrolling the film for which AR Rahman is scoring the music.

The first schedule of Vijay 61, which started during the start of this month, was wrapped up on the 21st of February.


Reportedly, Nithya Menen was part of this first schedule and the team is said to be very happy with the performance of the 24 actress. The second schedule will start from the second week of March, in Chennai. The team is touted to leave for France and the United States after finishing the second schedule in Chennai.


This Atlee directorial is being planned for an October month release.

Atlee is right now busy with his third directorial which is yet to be titled but goes by the name Vijay 61. The film has Nithya Menen, Samantha, Kajal Aggarwal and others.


SJ Suryah who is said to be playing an important role in the film, according to sources, is expected to join the shoot from the 1st of March when the second schedule will begin.


It has to be stated that the first schedule which began during the beginning of this month was completed on the 21st of February. The unit reportedly shot in a Thiruvizha set that was erected by art director Muthuraj where a few action sequences also were said to be filmed.

We know that Thaana Serndha Koottam, directed by Vignesh Shivn, starring Suriya and Keerthi Suresh is currently filming at a brisk pace. Also the shooting of Vijay's next film with Atlee is also in progress.

We had earlier reported that Vijay61 will be having a portion in which the film will be set in the 80s and we had also reported earlier today that Thaana Serndha Koottam would also be having a portion set in the 80s.

This is a sweet similarity between the two films. Yet another film with this set up is Simbu's upcoming AAA.

Here is exciting news for all Vijay fans. Apparently, Ilayathalapathy Vijay would be playing triple roles in his upcoming Vijay 61st film directed by Atlee. One of the roles would be a cop while other two parts are still kept in suspense.

Vijay has acted in a few double action roles in the recent past like Kaththi, Villu and ATM but for the first time, he will be seen playing triple roles in a film. Wow, this is just going to increase the expectation level to a different league.
