Jallikattu is perhaps the quintessential example for breathtaking filmmaking, nonetheless, it's not a great film per se. Apart from LJP's filmmaking prowess, there are no major takeaways here, at least for me. On a content level, it has a very basic premise that captures the events that happen in a village, but it has a potent political undercurrent. The technical finesse holds the film together, with the help of riveting frames, fitting background score and stunning sound design, LJP puts you in the middle of the chaos and provides a cinematic experience that is both immersive and problematic at the same time.

Jallikattu is not in the league of LJP's earlier films, but even on its own, it's a rare enough triumph in Malayalam cinema.
