The buzz and expectations around the release of a hyped Mohanlal movie is a speciality in every detail. From the start of its journey to its culmination, it takes a special and distinct path of mass hysteria among the movie goers of the state. His latest movie Pulimurugan is also no different from its predecessors.

When The Complete Actor joins his hand with the mass director Vysakh, fans will be expecting nothing less than blockbuster with tons of enjoyment and entertainment from their idol. That is exactly what Pulimurugan is all about. Mohanlal is portrayed in a never seen avatar that of a wild hunter who resides in the jungle. The film starts with his childhood days and coming to present life. His conflict with the tiger is the core of the film which is exceptionally and brilliantly conceived by the director. The first half moves in an average pace describing the characters involved and their lives. Most of the family sentiments and light moments of the film come in this part along with a sample of the roller coaster ride which is expected in the second half. And yes, the second half of the film gives complete justice to your expectations and even raises above all imaginations when it reach the climax episode.

Positives

Mohanlal as Pulimurugan is the spine, the brain and the soul of the movie. He is amazingly supernatural and unbelievably natural at the same time. This man plays with the mind of a viewer like an expert juggler feeding you with all levels of emotions at the right dosage at the right time. As always Mohanlal never acts but behaves and he yet again proves that the mystery and magic of his acting prowess stays unchallenged and even a distant opponent is yet to be found. He is the man of class, the man of mass and a complete actor in every aspect.

Director Vysakh is here to do more business and he is here to stay. He just answered all his critics with this single movie.

Peter Heins action sequences done by Mohanlal are mind blowing and Shajis frames captures beauty of Mother Nature in every scene captured.

VFX was excellent considering the limited budget of a Malayalam movie. There are some minor flaws which can well be forgiven.

Gopisundar’s BGM took the whole movie to an another level.

Negatives

Namitha scenes and some adult comedy scenes

VFX can be a negative for people who expect a Malayalam version of Life of Pie

Verdict

Blockbuster on cards, 4/5 considering a mass movie. Its Officially The Complete Actor's Year
