Tamil filmmaker Sundar C, mostly popular for helming successful comic entertainers and horror films, will next attempt a historical subject which will be made on a lavish budget.


“It will be a historical project like ‘Magadheera’, and will be made on a very high budget. It could easily be the most expensive film in Sundar’s career. They are in talks with a leading Bollywood heroine to play the leading lady,” a source close to Sundar told IANS.

The lead cast, including the male lead, will be finalised in a week.

Tamil superstar Suriya recently tasted a memorable success with his high budget time travel drama, 24. With this new found energy, Suriya is currently shooting for an out and out mass action entertainer, S3, the third part in the Singam franchise.

Meanwhile, there have been several interesting reports about Suriya’s next film. Touted to be a Tamil, Telugu and Hindi trilingual period film under the direction of actor-filmmaker Sundar C, this film is reportedly being planned to be made with an insanely high budget of nearly 250 crores.

Apparently, Sundar C has already roped in RC Kamalkannan of Magadheera and Eega fame to supervise the vfx and Sabu Cyril has been signed on to oversee the production design, while 24 and Janatha Garage’s cinematographer Thirru has been approached to crank the camera. Either Ilayaraja or AR Rahman will score for the movie and a leading Bollywood heroine has been in talks to play the female lead.

Popular Tamil film production house Sri Thenedal Films will reportedly bankroll this film, which will be their 100th project. Keep watching this space to know more about this project.

 

123telugu had already reported that Khushboo’s husband, Sundar C is making e a big budget project soon. Interesting aspect is that he has now roped in Oscar award winner A R Rahman for the film.

Reports also suggest that Sundar will soon approach Suriya to pay the lead role. The above said project will be made on a huge budget and if everything goes as planned, this project will be India’s biggest project till date.

 

If sources are to be believed, Sundar C has approached both Vijay and Mahesh Babu to star in the Tamil and Telugu versions of his upcoming biggie with Thenandal Films, reportedly titled Sangamithra.

Though both the actors are yet to respond, the director is confident about convincing a big star to be a part of this film. Already, music director AR Rahman, art director Sabu Cyril and VFX Supervisor RC Kamalakannan have been brought on board.

Sundar C is now tightening the cast and crew of the movie, and will take it on floors by September.

 

With stories going around in the social circles that Vijay and Mahesh Babu have been approached by Sundar C for his next project, everyone is waiting for an official word about the same.

Considering the nature of the genre and the scale of the project, it will be more beneficial to the makers if big names are part of their project. Following the prestigious association of AR Rahman with this flick, the makers of the movie are trying to finalize a few other big names for the project.

It has to be recalled that some time back, Mani Ratnam tried to sign up Vijay and Mahesh Babu for his ambitious Ponniyin Selvan project but due to unavoidable reasons the project was shelved. Now Sundar.C is reported to be trying to bring in the two actors together in this venture. Whether he will succeed in it or not is something we have to wait to witness. Popular Tamil actor-director Sundar C’s most ambitious magnum opus, tentatively titled Sanghamitra, has been making a lot of buzz ever since it was announced around a month ago. Touted to be India’s most expensive film ever, this grand historical drama will be shot across eleven countries, according to the latest reports.

Contrary to the reports which said that leading southern stars like Mahesh Babu, Suriya and Vijay were approached to play the titular role, Sundar said that he is yet to decide on the cast. The makers are planning to shoot across India, USA, Denmark, Ukraine, Iran and other countries.

Sri Thenandal Films will bankroll this magnum opus. AR Rahman will score the music for this film.
