Shyamprasad is rated as one of Malayalam cinema’s finest filmmakers ever. A winner of multiple national awards, the ace director has carved a niche for himself with his movies that mostly explore human psyche and the various dynamics in relationships. His last film ‘Hey Jude’ told the story of a person with Asperger syndrome and his relationship with a girl having bipolar disorder. The movie won a lot of critical appreciation and was an average grosser at the box office. Shyamaprasad’s next film will also be discussing a very intricate subject. The movie is based on Sarah Joseph’s novel, Aalohari Aanandam. Set in a large Christian household, Aalohari Anandam dissects different faces of man-woman relationships, as well as sexual orientation. Its story deals with the homosexuality of a married woman and its impact in her life and society. Big news is that Shyamaprasad is planning to cast Mammootty in the lead for the big screen adaptation of Aalohari Anandam. The director himself revealed this in a recent interview. Initial discussions are already on and they are planning to go on floors by October or November. Mammootty and Shyamaprasad have previously worked together in ‘Ore Kadal’, a widely acclaimed film that went on to be screened at numerous international film festivals, including IFFI Indian Panorama. Expectations will be huge when the actor-director duo reunite after a long gap. This upcoming movie with Mammootty will be produced by Shyamaprasad’s son Vishnu, who owns a Mumbai based advertising agency. An official announcement with full details regarding the title, entire cast and crew is expected to be made very soon.
