06/07/2016 PVR,10:00am 100 % "Between the realms of heaven and earth, lingers your magnificient soul" - Sultan has all the sparkles an eid entertainer demands & also a thoroughly entertaining theme - A True Underdog Story. The film follows almost the same pattern that we have seen in films like Creed,Southpaw,Never Back Down & a few more,so this one obviously is not so great, atleast for me.Without any second thoughts,Salman is the best choice for this role, eventhough his acting is not so good, the macho look, well built physique & a few other attributes made the character of Sultan Ali Khan convincing.Anushka as Aarfa did a superb performance, she was subtle for most of her part which made it a quality act.Randeep Hooda in an extended cameo was good.Others were fine in their respective roles. 1st half was watchable, the first 45 minutes wanders aimlessly, with 2-3 songs in between the proceedings,it was a bit boring. The film gains momentum halfway through the former half, from there on it was entertaining.2nd half completely justified the genre of the movie, with enough 'Sallu Mass' scenes & superbly choreographed action sequences,it was quite an entertaining ride. Technically,Sultan is a quality stuff.Dop was really good, the wrestling scenes were taken fabulously.Editing could have been better, atleast in the initial portions,168 minutes of running time was also a bit long.Music was superb,i loved all the songs (bulleya, tuk tuk & sultan theme song are the best),Bgm was fabulous, the sultan background score had a powerful energy & lifted most of the scenes into the next level. The story, screenplay & direction was tight & crispy,Sultan is the basically the desi version of a true underdog story - Ali Abbas Zaffar with his hatke making made it more appealing. Overall,Sultan is a Good Entertainer ! +ves Salman Anushka Supporting Cast Direction,Story Music & Bgm -ves first 45 minutes duration Verdict : Good Rating : 7/10 B.O Verdict : Blockbuster !
