Satellite rights go to Zee. 110 crore, 3 languages.

 

The entire South Indian film industry was stunned when news broke out on Monday that Lyca Productions, the makers of Shankar’s 2.0, and Zee Network have struck a deal worth Rs 110 crores for the film’s satellite rights. As part of the deal, Zee has acquired the satellite rights for all its three versions – Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.



Although it’s considerably higher compared to every other deal in the past, the interesting part is Zee Network has control over the rights only for 15 years. Usually, producers end up giving away life-time rights to the TV channels when they strike such deals; however, Lyca Productions seems to have been very particular that don’t follow the same route.

Moreover, talks are on with both Netflix and Amazon India for the digital rights. On the other hand, buzz is that the Hindi theatrical rights alone could fetch another record sum for a South Indian film. 2.0 stars Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson in lead roles, and it’s slated for release in October this year.

 

Maverick director Shankar and Super Star Rajinikanth’s ongoing sci-fi thriller, 2.0, is one of the most eagerly awaited movies in 2017. The film’s shooting is almost completed except for a song and a minor patchwork.



The film’s unit had earlier announced that 2.0 will be released as a Diwali treat. Now, if the latest buzz in Tamil media circles is anything to go by, the makers are planning to release 2.0 on October 18th. An official announcement is awaited though.

2.0 is being shot on 3D format and the film will be released in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi simultaneously. Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson will be seen in important roles in this movie, which has its music by AR Rahman. Lyca Productions banner is bankrolling this high budget visual extravaganza.

 

Shankar’s 2.0 is officially the costliest film to date in India and every news that comes out about that film is quite exciting. The latest news reveals that the trailer of this film will be released on the 29th of September.



A lot of money has gone into the making of this film and Shankar has roped in the best technicians from Hollywood. Amy Jackson, Akshay Kumar play lead roles in this film which will release this Diwali 2017.
