taken a good opening of 30-35%. The morning shows in Mumbai and Gujarat are the second best of the year after Raees while in the North the opening is on par with Jolly LLB 2 which is the second best opening of the year till date. Overall the film is looking at the second best opening of the year after Raees for 2017. The difference between this is and Joly LLB 2 is that Badrinath Ki Dulhania has got more going for it than Jolly LLB 2 for the Friday morning audience while Jolly LLB 2 picked up in the evening as it had nothing for the youth.

The opening is very good for the cost of the film as its a medium budget film and even just holding up over the weekend will ensure a success. The film had competition with Kong - Skull Island but barring down South that film has not really opened and even in South it is an average opening. The Hindi version of the film has opened poorly across North and Central India as Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya is first choice. The film will probably doe better in Tamil and Telugu than Hindi as far as the dubbed versions go.

Badrinath Ki Dulhania is looking at a solid first day and if evenings screenings show the normal uptrend it could end up having the second best opening day of the year which would put the film in a great position.

Varun Dhawan, whose latest film 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' released on Friday, says his aim is to entertain the audience with whatever he does.

Varun on Thursday night tweeted: "My director and the entire team has put in a lot of effort I hope everyone connects with the film and message. I just want to entertain."

The actor, who is seen essaying the role of Badri in the Shashank Khaitan directorial, says the film is very special. "'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' has been a very special film in my life... Like all actors I have also worked extremely hard," he added.

'Badrinath Ki Dulhania', which also features actress Alia Bhatt in key role, is the second instalment of the 2014 film 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania'.

    Expectations
Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt are two such star actors who have been growing with their every release. While Varun is delivering back to back successful as well as a power packed film like 'Badlapur', Alia on the other end is riding high due to her fantastic performances in many films.
Varun and Alia started their career by doing 'Student Of The Year' followed by 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' due to which the expectation level are at its peak with their latest film 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania'.
    Story
'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' is a story of Badrinath Bansal (Varun Dhawan), whose only aim in life is to find a suitable girl and get married to her. Badrinath meets Vaidehi Trivedi (Alia Bhatt) and decides to get married to her. Badrinath expresses his feeling to Vaidehi, but Vaidehi wants her sister to get married first and also focus on her career.
Badrinath and his best friend Somadev (Sahil Vaid), start searching for a suitable groom for Vaidehi's sister and also on the other side convince Badrinath's strict father (Rituraj), who believes only in arrange marriage and that too with a good amount of dowry. Things happen as Badrinath had planned until the main day when his whole world turns upside down.
    The 'Glitz' Factor
Every scene in the first half has a good amount of entertainment attached to it. The movie starts with back to back fun filled moments featuring Varun Dhawan, Sahil Vaid and Alia Bhatt. The entire first half is engaging as well as enjoyable. The one liners are hilarious and goes well with the characters. The cinematography is good and keeps the movie fresh and enjoyable.
'Aashiq Surrender Hua' and 'Tamma Tamma Again' are foot tapping and well shot. 'Humsafar' and 'Roke Na Ruke Naina' are soul touching, especially the Alia Bhatt version of ‘Humsafar’. The background music is enjoyable.
Director Shashank Khaitan comes up with an interesting tale set in the heartland of India with a taboo topic of dowry, but well coated it with sweet romance and good amount of entertainment attached to it. He highly succeeds in the first half of the film, where one can feel the strong undercurrent going behind the comical scenes followed by the whole message in the second half.
Varun Dhawan cutely delivers his one liners and justifies his character with the help of his body mannerisms. Alia looks pretty and her character has strong layers attached to it. Sahil Vaid is fantastic as Varun's best friend. Shweta Basu Prasad, Yash Sinha, Swanand Kirkire and others lend good support. Aparshakti Khurrana is sweet in his cameo.
    The 'Non-Glitz' Factor
The second half starts to slow down as the screenplay fails to move ahead. There are minimal happenings taking place in the second half, which has been stretched to the fullest. Besides few important scenes, everything else woven around these scenes in the second half is repetitive, bland and boring at times.
The whole energy and soul seems to be missing in the second half of the film. The screenplay keeps wobbling for a long time leading to a hurried and unconvincing climax. The whole concept of the climax is wonderful, but somehow fails to cumulate on the screen. Editing should have been crisp in the second half of the film.
While 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' scored high due to its music, 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' fails to surpass its predecessor.'Badri Ki Dulhania' is wasted in the end credits.
Director Shashank Khaitan fails to connect properly due to the lethargic screenplay in the second half. The director diverts his movie from its main roots for unnecessary reasons and that too for a long period. The grip over his character, their stories and the whole entertainment quotient in the film slips out at several times. Gauhar Khan is highly wasted.
    Final 'Glitz'
'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' is entertainingly meaningful and will be liked by the youngsters as well as the family audience.
