Having a great fan following is a double edged sword. Fans can really elevate an actor’s success and, at the same time, they can ruin a real good film or a great performance by an actor celebrating a mediocre movie or performance as “kidu” or “ mass.” Lalettan is the most unfortunate in that respect. I was just going through various postings in different groups, forums and other platforms. We, as great admirers of Lalettan— undoubtedly he is one of three finest actors in India today— is doing an unforgivable disservice to him by celebrating a crap like Ittimani. Even the great Lalettan tends to overdo in the film because the screeenplay is pure shit and the situations are contrived to the core. Just remember how a bold film like Villain and Laleetan’s performance in it—undoubtedly his best since Bhramaram— was thrashed and ridiculed by the so called admirers.
