Sify star of month is Sivakarthikeyan, who has just completed four years in the film industry but has already surpassed the market value of decade old actors who are still struggling to be among Top ten heroes in Kollywood. As per the trade reports and statistics of the actor's recent release Rajini Murugan, the actor is on the right track to join the elite top league featuring Rajini, Kamal, Vijay, Ajith and Suriya. There were times when Rajini and Vijay had huge kids fan base but now, the baton has been passed on to Sivakarthikeyan. Thirupur Subramanian, veteran distributor in Tamil Nadu says: “In my personal experience, Sivakarthikeyan is kind hearted and that’s why he has become a big star. After Rajini and Vijay, he has a strong fan base ranging from kids to senior citizens”. “I also have a request to Sivakarthikeyan. He should never ever act as an anti-hero and his scripts should always target the family audiences. There are few stars whom people will not accept in negative characters. When Sivaji, Kamal and Ajith played baddies, general audiences accepted but that’s not the case for Rajini and Vijay”, adds the ace distributor. “People had great love for MGR, then it was passed on to Rajini and Vijay, now Sivakarthikeyan has it”, concludes Subramanian. Trade also feels that Sivakarthikeyan’s films will always land in profit zone. Rakesh of Chrompet Vetri theaters say: “Leaving Marina, all the films of Sivakarthikeyan have been received well. It all started with Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga, which attracted the core ‘B’ and ‘C’ center audiences with Sivakarthikeyan’s trademark comic elements from Vijay TV. But it was Ethir Neechal, which made Sivakarthikeyan a real star that he has shined in all departments including dance, romance and comedy” “Though Maan Karate was not a big commercial hit, it was not a loss either. After Maan Karate, everyone thought that his next film Kaaki Sattai will not do well at the box office but the film proved Sivakarthikeyan’s crowd pulling power in Kollywood”, adds Rakesh. Rakesh also feels that Sivakarthikeyan’s current market is similar to what Suriya had during 7aam Arivu days and he has a bright chance to join the elite biggies club in Tamil cinema. “Today if we buy a Sivakarthikeyan film, either we would recover the cost or witness good profit”, concludes Rakesh. It would not have been a cakewalk for a TV host like Sivakarthikeyan to enter into the egoistic Tamil film industry but he has achieved the impossible. “I think the way Sivakarthikeyan has proved himself from a TV presenter to a big star is incredible. It’s all because of his hard work and good script selection that all his films have the comedy element”, says senior trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai. “Sivakarthikeyan’s big strength is his strong fan base among ladies and children. He excels in comedy, dance and the way he presents himself on screen in films like Varutha Padatha Valibar Sangam and Rajini Murugan attracts the youth crowd that he has become the voice of Tamil Nadu youngsters, he concludes. Keep rocking Sivakarthikeyan! let the success streak continue…
