ru Kidayin Karunai Manu (OKKM) is a very simple story that revolves around a death and a group of villagers who are unfortunately involved in it. The entire story is in fact narrated during the title card even before the first scene is played; a gutsy and confident move, believing in the screenplay. The very first scene strikes you as the camera angles are shown from the eyes of a goat. Vidharth deserves a pat more than one reason. Firstly, for being generous to let go the first slot in the title card this is generally reserved for heroes. Then mainly for not interrupting the director from what he wanted to portray. He doesn’t get to play a typical heroic role; it is a role that is filled with imperfections with grey shades. The term grey shade could easily be misinterpreted for baddie. It’s not that, by grey we mean being a typical human; how one reacts to tough situation; how our brain asks us to be an escapist when the going gets tough. That is human tendency and that feeling is beautifully captured by the director. Verdict: OKKM is an enjoyable experimental film in a rural backdrop. SYNOPSIS: Three hi-tech burglars, who lose their jobs because of a business tycoon, set out to take revenge against him. With a decent plot, Bongu engages viewers partly, thanks to its fast-paced narration and action episodes. However, a few forced light-hearted scenes and a couple of songs which appear in the second half spoil the tense mood of the film. Natty, who made heads turn with Sathuranga Vettai, is once again seen as a confident guy who stands for what he believes in, mouthing philosophical dialogues. Nevertheless, he exudes energy in action scenes and in the portrayal of a slightly confused, yet revenge-seeking character. Ruhi Singh, the former Miss India, is a delight to watch on screen, thanks to her sharp features. Arjunan as Natty’s aide is apt. Munishkanth gets to enact the role of a scapegoat in this film, too. Sharath, as a baddie, is convincing. But Atul Kulkarni is a disappointment - the versatile performer definitely deserves more than what he is asked to do here. In a cat-and-mouse game, the role of a dedicated and intense cop should have written in a better way, especially when a seasoned artiste like him has been cast in the role. To sum up, Bongu is a harmless entertainer with a few engaging moments. A tightly-packed screenplay could have made it a much more interesting watch. SYNOPSIS: The murder of a girl unexpectedly turns the life of two people topsy-turvy. Even as they run for their lives, they try to find the real culprit behind the assassination 7 Naatkal has its moments, especially in the first half, with a few light-hearted scenes which gradually build up to an engaging suspense drama. However, the second half involves sequences where the director takes his own time to establish connection between varied incidents and characters. A duet song, too, mars the flow. With a lot of drama, confusions and a not-so-surprising twist towards the end, the murder mystery is solved on the seventh day. Sakthi is comfortable in a happy-go-lucky character, while Nikesha does her part well. Ganesh Venkatram and Rajeev Pillai manage to engage with their characterisations. Prabhu and Nasser are apt in their roles. MS Bhaskar, who impresses with his witty antics, gives a touching performance towards the end, in perhaps what could be called as one of the few impressive scenes in the film. The mediocre music and extended narration, make the flick a little tiring in the second half, which otherwise could have been an impressive attempt.
