Director Vikram Kumar, is one name which has become synonymous with hit films. His latest film, 24 has hit the bull eye and the movie unit celebrated the success meet of the film yesterday in Hyderabad.

Speaking at the occasion, Vikram Kumar specially lauded Ajay for his role in the film. The ace director said that Ajay is the most under rated actor in Tollywood and can do any type of roles. He also added that if given more opportunities, he can surprise everyone with his acting skills.

Ajay played Suriya’s right hand in the film and won good applause from the audience. 24 has been going great guns all over its areas of release and is collecting good amounts at the box office.

 

Suriya’s 24 is doing decent business and is on the verge of becoming Suriya’s biggest hit till date in Telugu. Latest update now reveals that the film has collected a total share of 94 lakhs in the Vizag region after the first six days of its release.

The collections in the multiplexes are decent and the A center audience are loving the film big time. Directed by Vikram Kumar, 24 is based on a watch which travels back in time. The gripping narration and thrills have worked well with everyone.

Samantha and Nithya Menen play female leads in this film which has music by A R Rahman.

What is the obvious advantage any film-maker has while handling a script that involves time traveling? He/she can bring the dead characters back to life and that calls for a sequel or even a prequel. When it comes toSuriya's 24, it is the former.


Yes, according to the latest report, 24 will have a sequel (24 part 2) and the same has been confirmed by the movie's editor Prawin Pudi.





Speaking to Behindwoods, Prawin has explained why portions involving Suriya's pilot avatar, as seen in the film's teaser, trailer and the posters, had to be trimmed.

He has also said that the sequences, in which Suriya will be seen paragliding, will be featured in the film's sequel and that 24 part 2 was always a part of the plan.

"In the film, paragliding is Mani's (Suriya) hobby. It initially featured as an intro scene for Mani where he is paragliding as part of National Day celebrations which got cut due to time constraints. It would probably feature in 24 part 2," he has said.

It is also said that the news was earlier confirmed by director Vikram Kumar when he shared a post on a social media page. The post also hints at the possible revival of Athreya, the dreaded villain played by Suriya.

Since the movie doesn't convincingly showcase Athreya's demise, he is expected to be back on the big screen in 24 part 2. Even if he is dead, the time machine is still lying around somewhere to bring him back to life.

Since both Vikram and Suriya are busy working on their respective projects at the moment, the sequel might take a few months to go on floors.

 

Suriya-starrer Tamil time-travel thriller 24, currently playing in cinemas, might have a prequel, according to its director Vikram Kumar.

"There's scope to work on a prequel. Audiences would like to know about the back-story of the twin brothers - Aathreya and Sethuraman - played by Suriya in '24'. We could establish their story in the prequel," Vikram told IANS.

Although the Yavarum Nalam directorsays he can't work on the prequel immediately, he might reunite with Suriya for the project next year.

"My next two projects are with actor Allu Arjun and Mahesh Babu. Only after I complete these two projects, will I be able to think of the prequel, which needs to be written first," he said.
Though he is sure about joining hands with Suriya for the prequel, rest of the cast and crew has not been finalized by the film-maker.

Interestingly, earlier it was reported that 24might have a sequel as Athreya's demise in the movie wasn't showcased in a convincing manner and that he might be resurrected in the sequel.

But with Vikram's latest statement, it is now confirmed that 24 will have a prequel instead. Having said that, the movie also has scope for a sequel, given its open ending and the concept of time travel it houses.

So, are we going to witness 24 part 3 as well? Well, it is definitely too early to comment on that, but if 24 part 2 does exceedingly well at the box office, who knows what lies in the future?

Meanwhile, 24, despite mixed reactions, is holding its ground at the box office. In its first week in cinemas worldwide, the film reportedly grossed over 50 Crore rupees.

Also starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Nithya Menen, the film is produced by Suriya and has music by two time Oscar winning composer AR Rahman.
