"Godha is a thoroughly entertaining cinema that keeps you inside its world with humor and emotional arcs. The fact that it manages to reciprocate positivity even after being a commercial humor driven film is its achievement." - Lensman Movie Review centre.

3rd Day going strong with excellent word of mouth! :) :)

MY SHORT TAKE : GODHA I usually stay away from watching a movie during the first few days of its release, primarily due to the heavy rush that can occur during the weekend and to avoid the hooting and shouting of those crazy fans which may hamper the hearing of the dialogues. Godha - Official, directed by Basil Joseph was never on my movie radar, but things happened so quickly that I found myself inside the theater for the Saturday first show along with my family. It also happened incidentally that I was watching a movie along with my son for the very first time inside a movie hall. So did the movie impress, in one word, YES!!! Godha works primarily due to two reasons, the first being the performance of the lead actress and second being the ability of the director to convey a simple yet powerful message regarding the importance of respecting woman’s dreams and ambitions. In one scene the female protagonist asks her male counterpart on why everyone wants a Sakshi Malik and get medals for the country but at the same time discourage their own daughters and sisters from becoming one, how true and sad is that. I have been following Basil Joseph through his super hit short films even before he became a movie director. Kunjiramayanam was an enjoyable flick (if you ignore the lady who played a cameo in the end though!!!) and Basil showed lot of promise in his first outing itself. The rise and the rise of Tovino Thomas must have set the expectation for Godha into soaring heights. Here too he is comfortable playing Anjaneya Das, who is the representation of those umpteen youths who have finished graduation in engineering (Thankfully he is playing a guy who has passed the course). In the story though his part is bit of sidelined around the first half, that is when Aditi Singh, played by Wamiqa Gabbi takes over. That girl is a revelation and kudos to the makers for casting her. The script weaves around her character and thankfully Wamiqa injects life and blood into it. Renji Panicker, who has himself created many fiery characters in the past, gets to play one here. The role of “Captain” is safe and secure in his hands and even gets to flex his muscles and body in couple of scenes. Aju Varghese, Bijukuttan, Dharmajan, Pradeep Kottayam, Sreejith Ravi and Kanaran Hareesh handles the humour department and excels in the same. The support cast of Hareesh Peradi, Parvathi, Mamukkoya and the actor who played Wamiqia’s brother (have seen him in hindi films, can’t recollect the name) did their part well. Rakesh Mantodi, who had previously written Thira handles the script well, though I must say there were couple of really unconvincing scenes. Edited by Vishnu and filmed by Abhinav, Godha has just over a couple hours of running time. Music by Shaan was good and the BGM’s invoked a good overall feel. Make no mistake, Godha never attains the high of Dangal, the wrestling scenes may look amateurish comparing that to Dangal but what it does well is in delivering a family oriented feel good movie. There are few negatives and holes in the script, but can be overlooked thanks to the positives. I would give a big thumbs up to Basil Joseph’s Godha, it is one bout you’d enjoy the most!!!

Godha - Is this the same guy who did Kunjiramayanam was the first question that popped into my head after that opening sequence. Godha is not just an in and out comedy movie like Kunjiramanayam, there's a decent story about chasing dreams and characters you'll fall in love with. Wamiqa Gabbi! The real star. She's nothing less than a blast with her cute and sharp screen presence. Tovino Thomas has evolved to a good actor and this time he has handled humor very easily and with great charm, followed by riots Aju Varghese, Biju Kuttan , Dharmajan Bolgatty, Hareesh Perumanna , Pradeep Kottayam. Abhinav Sunder Nayak's edits, Vishnu Sarma's quality frames and Shaan Rahman's tracks are another highlights. Basil Joseph കുടുംബത്തോടെ എല്ലാം മറന്ന് ഇരുന്ന് കാണാൻ ഗോദ ! ദ്രഥംഗപുളകിതരാകു !!!
