    PADMAN MOVIE REVIEW

    The 'superhero' of the film — Akshay Kumar, makes you wonder why he continues to be one of our most underrated actors, despite such immense body of work. He going as far as wearing a pink ladies underwear and a pad to prove a point, goes on to show how actors are willing to push boundaries and embrace their screen characters for the films they believe in. Radhika Apte portrays her part beautifully, making her character relatable to the section of women, who still face such societal taboos. Sonam Kapoor too lights up the screen with her candour and makes her presence felt in a significant role.

    Known for making films that work towards bridging the age and gender gap, Balki's Padman is an empowering film that gives you the wings, despite the odds. It will free women of their inhibitions and that will be its biggest success. Period!

    Verdict: A triumph by the entire cast and crew in turning Arunachalam Muruganantham's life journey into a perfectly packaged biopic!

    What worked?
    PadMan's big positives are its solid content, impactful performances from Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor. Besides these, there is an amazing work from legendary cinematography PC Sreeram, whose lighting and frameworks speak larger than dialogues. Balki's screenplay and his statistic reports, which say only 12% of Indian women use pads and the effects to ensure every woman use the pads, have visually worked big time. The relationship between Akshay Kumar and Sonam Kapoor is very significant and deserves an applause.


    Well?
    Kudos to PadMan's entire cast and crew, who have just turned Arunachalam Muruganantham's life journey into a perfectly packaged biopic. The film has everything going for it, inspires us in many ways and emphasizes the need for women to use pads and also talks about women empowerment.
