Santhanam in talks for Thala 57?

Santhanam, who has been turning down comedy and side-kick roles in Tamil is said to have agreed to do a similar character in Thala Ajith’s next film with director Siva of Veeram and Vedalam fame.

Santhanam has early acted with Ajith in Kireedam and Veeram, where his comedy sequences have worked big time.

To be produced by Sathya Jothi Films, director Siva is yet to finalize a female lead for the film. As of now, Vetri has been confirmed to crank the camera, Anirudh Ravichander for music and Milan for art direction.

The principal shoot of Thala 57 will commence from July and before that, there will be an auspicious pooja, which will be held at Sathya Jothi’s office in Chennai.

The latest buzz in the town is about actress Ritika Singh's involvement in Ajith's upcoming film Thala 57. It is said that the Irudhi Suttrugirl is in talks for an important role in the movie.

Speculated to have two heroines, Thala 57might see Tamannaah joining hands with Ajith for the second time after Veeram. Ritika Singh, if roped in, might play second fiddle to theBaahubali actress.





Earlier, it was reported that the makers are in talks with Hindi actress Kriti Sanon for the role. But now, it looks like Ritika has been zeroed in by director Siva and his team.

But when a leading daily contacted the National Award-winning actress, she has bluntly said, "I can't talk anything about it now."

After making an impressive debut, the 22-year-old kickboxer turned actress went on to bag Vijay Sethupathi's next, which is being directed by Kaaka Muttai fame Manikandan.

If she manages to feature in Thala 57, there are no doubts that her acting career in Tamil cinema will find itself a new route to reach great heights.

Meanwhile, there are reports that claim Santhanam too, has been approached to play a crucial role in Thala 57.

Last seen in Vaaliba Raja, the Inimey Ippadithaan actor is busy filming for his upcoming films, Dhilluku Dhuddu and Server Sundaram. Both these movies will have him playing the lead.

After an interesting statement, in which he said, going forward, he will not take up the role of a comedian barring a few films that features his "friends" such as Simbu and Arya, Santhanam has concentrated more on films portraying him in the lead.

This being the case, it should be interesting to see if he goes on to sign Thala 57. Santhanam was seen sharing screen space with Ajith in movies like Billa and Veeram.

Though the official announcement is getting delayed the pre-production work for Thala Ajith's 57th film to be directed by Siva is going on full swing. The film is going to be produced by the prestigious Satya Jyothi Films banner.

Last week it was being reported that the 'Irudhi Suttru' girl Rithika Singh has been approached to play the female lead in this big project. Rithika has said she can not speak anything about this as of now, which means she has not refuted the reports suggesting that she is being approached 'Thala 57' team.

Now here comes the scoop on what may be called as the casting coup of the year. An unconfirmed source suggests that the villain character in the film is equally powerful as the hero and would be like the Victor character played by Arun Vijay in 'Yennai Arindhaal'. So the makers felt that the versatile actor Vijay Sethupathi would be the apt choice for the role and he has been approached for the same.

Also Vijay Sethupathi who never cares about his star or hero image and looks only for the story and the character offered to him has apparently given his nod to take up the offer. It is also said that he is excited to act with Thala Ajith and that is one of the main reasons that made him instantly give a positive response.

"The talks between the two parties are in final stage and we can expect an official announcement soon", adds the soruce.

So is it true that Vijay Sethupathi is going to act as the villain of the much loved 'Villain'. Well, we will have to wait for official confirmation to know the answer.
